the Nod Brook Wildlife Management Area in Simsbury, is warning pet owners of a Blue Green Algae bloom in their pond.
Blue green algae blooms are toxic to pets & people. Pets should not swim in or lick contaminated water from their fur. Even dried out clumps of algae can be toxious.
If your pet has come into contact with the algae then immediately bathe yourself & your pet thoroughly and seek immediate veterinary attention.
Signs can occur in as little as 15 - 30 minutes. Some signs are: lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, excessive drooling, and death.
