"Say hello to Pixie Stixx! If you follow the Sioux Empire Pit Rescue at all you probably have seen her before, since yesterday (Oct 11th) marked 3 years of Pixie being with the rescue. Pixie is the cutest pocket pittie with big eyes and a quizzical brow, her facial expressions are just the best!
Pixie is happy, sweet and so loving but also sassy. Pixie is a stage 5 clinger or Velcro dog, she loves to be where ever her person is. She has absolutely zero concept of personal space and will cuddle up as close as possible with her human or other dogs in the house. She’s not much for toys but she does enjoy a session of rough housing with her foster brother whom she loves and coexists with perfectly .

Unfortunately Pixies love of other canines ends with her “pack”.
Pixie has unknown dog anxiety that leads to reactivity. We have worked with trainers and behavioral trainers who feel Pixie has fear based anxiety so we have been working on building up her confidence with training and outings that show her she is safe with her handler, even around dogs she doesn’t know. Pixie would love a forever home with a canine brother she can use as a security blanket. Her anxiety rises when alone, especially kenneled alone. She has never had a single issue with her foster brother(she also had a foster sister for the first 2 years and loved her before she passed away). After the required “shut down” period and some short slow introductions, Pixie melded into the pack seamlessly.

Pixie is good on a leash and in the car. She kennels up with a simple “kennel up” command, waits for her food and loves ALL people . Pixie has been fully muzzle trained as an extra precaution for outings in public where there might be other dogs. She doesn’t love it, but she now knows the muzzle means she’s going somewhere fun! 3 years is a long time to wait for a family but we know the perfect one is out there that will love her, quirks and all

Pixie Stixx's is as sweet and petite as the candy she’s named after, but also has a spunky side too! She’s a red-brindle beauty with a perpetually quizzical brow, big expressive eyes and a set of quirky ears second to none.

Pixie Stixx's settled into her foster home as she has always been there. She had some kennel anxiety and initially wore a Thundervest, but her two canine foster siblings kenneled company remedied that. She kennels up willingly and stays relatively quiet. However, she does have a touch of FOMO.

Pixie Stixx has learned to sit and knows she must wait for her food until her foster mom gives her the ok. She has mastered look, down, leave it, and sit up. Pixie has excellent leash manners as long as she doesn’t come upon other rude dogs who bark at her. Leash reactivity is something her foster mom is working on daily. Pixie is an intelligent lady who is eager to please, and her foster mom is a patient, dedicated dog handler! We have also enlisted the help of Nerdy Canine (a local trainer in Sioux Falls).

Pixie loves the other two other dogs in the house, and they get along very well! She would prefer a home with a friendly, laid-back male canine companion to keep her company or would be fine as an only dog as well. Pixie just wants to be the center of someone's world. She has been spotted snuggling with her foster brother, which is her favorite pastime. If you're looking for a lap warmer this winter, she's your gal!

Pixie truly enjoys lounging around at home, and while she can be up for a good adventure or two, it is not a must for this girl. She can be completely content resting on the couch with a good book or movie with her favorite humans.

Pixie is the perfect little pocket-size companion. Someone that is wanting a co-pilot for their daily fun activities would be right up Pixie's alley. She has never met a human she didn't love!

Pixie will surely make someone’s life much sweeter; maybe it’s yours.

We went to the pack walk today… was a pack walk for 2 and we kept our distance from adoptable Cobain… I don’t know him & that makes me nervous! ( Cobain seems like a pretty cool dude, I just don’t know him)

Foster mom said I did AMAZING!!!! There were lots of geese and 2 little weener dogs in a bike basket that barked at me! Can you believe that????
Even tho I did not like that one bit foster momma said to “leave it” and we kept walking.

Pixie is just as sweet as they come. We haven’t met a human she does not absolutely adore. Pixie also enjoys the company of her canine companions in her foster home. She isn’t necessarily thrilled about strange dogs in her space out and about on walks but thoroughly enjoys daily adventures with her foster mother. A home without small critters or cats is a must due to her typical terrier drive.

Pixie has been waiting for an adoptive family for over two years. It’s time to find her place that will love her unconditionally. As you can see Pixie is a great sport about dress up as well.

Pixie Stixx’s has been waiting for her family for 861 DAYS!!!! 🏡 ♥️ 🏡♥️ THATS A LONG TIME!!

Pixie is that perfect balance of chill and adventure. She appreciates a good book or movie cuddle session and on the flip side loves tagging along for any type of fun adventures. It truly takes very little to please Pixie. Who wouldn’t love this?

🐕 Pixie is dog social when slowly introduced and allowed time to settle in. She adores her canine foster brother and sister and prefers her kennel time with a friend.

🐈‍⬛ Pixie is a terrier and has typical drive, so a home without a feline is a must!

Pixie arrived very shut down after being left in a small city shelter. Due to being dumped we have worked with this lady on confidence building and nailing down a wheelhouse of commands and behaviors. She has an entire team behind her with SEPR, Big Paws Canine, and Nerdy K9 Academy. This girl has a lot going for her and she even comes with training sessions if an approved adopter would like them!

🌈 Pixie’s ideal home would be any one that is just looking for a right hand girl. She adores people and truly just wants to be loved and cherished.

👠 Pixie walks well on leash with her gentler leader. She can be site reactive with other animals, so we always give her lots of space and bubbles to move away. She is also 💯 muzzle trained! Car rides are definitely enjoyed with all her favorite humans. 🚙

Thank you Pet Supplies Plus for letting us foster doggos from Sioux Empire Pit Rescue use the self serv bathing stations and especially for trimming my nails!

I hated every minute of it ( sorry) but I feel and look so much better!!!

The store has TONS of toys and treats and food and is 100% veteran owned! Foster momma says we’ll go back to shop on a day I’m not so moody!
