Everyone is getting ready to go home this weekend! I'll be off work for a little over a month (for the heavy training, I'm still doing refresher courses and boarding)
However, I'm playing with this group on and off today and I get such a feeling from working more than one at a time in a leisure setting.
I don't do this often bc there is no need unless your in a multiple dog household, most are not, but I am so mine get the default practice! đ
I may or may not miss the dogs....
Socialization is not about meeting other dogs and people only.
More importantly it's about being exposed to sights and sounds that aren't in everyday life.
These are the most nervous dogs I've had here this training round and they are doing so much better. Evee (the little dog) would have never been this close to me doing this before and Buttercup is finally relaxing and letting life happen around her with little to no reaction.
Scatter feeding your dogs look similar to this. Nothing special.
Works on mental stimulation as well as impulse control!
This is what you should be aiming for.
Handler engagement and obvious leadership. Sawyer is happy to follow my lead and look up to me for guidance and direction!
We have been working on the heel command seperate from leash walking and sitting when I stop. It all is coming together beautifully! Super proud of him!
Sawyer has been so sweet! So fast to learn and such a joy! Really enjoying working him.
Finishing up the morning sessions before the heat sets in. Love when I can start working more than one at a time. These two are best friends!
What they have learned....
A kennel command. Automatic stay. Door dashing. Break command. Come command with automatic sit. A sit command which is an automatic stay.
Jenny goes home this weekend and I'm bummed about that! Newfies are such great dogs and she is beyond sweet.
I take horrible videos!
This is 2 weeks with Luna.
Mainly her training is to work her mind. The place command will be used for when her owners have company over and the obedience training just gets better and better. She isn't overly hyper but you can tell mentally she needs worked.
I always have people wondering why my dogs don't run off. Clients freak out when they get here and my dogs are walking around in my front yard with me and not on a leash.... I even unleashed Renji today to get around his neck good while giving a groom.
My dogs don't run off bc I don't allow them. Very simple.
If when I unleashed Renji while doing the blower and he tried to walk off for "a break" as some people like to call it...I don't allow it. I bring him back. Not mean about it. He just has to come back. Even if I have to follow him around until he comes to me (bc lord knows he hates grooming as much as I do) he doesn't get a chance to stop and break. He gains nothing if he walks away from me when I tell him to stay or something similar.
When you give into your dogs ruling you it doesn't stop at one thing.
If you want a dog you can love and enjoy and live a stress free life with then train them. It pays off.
Doggy playday is in full swing!
This was a short video but I handed the leash off to see how they did we ith someone else. They did perfect!
Again im terrible at taking videos! But I had to brag on these two!
Maple and Muffin!
I randomly decided to take them out for a walk together fully expecting go be doing a lot of work.
Their training paid off! They not only did a loose leash walk the entire 30 minutes but their reactivity was almost gone!
Kids on bikes, dogs barking and cars going by hardly fazed them!
I'm so proud of the progress both have made! This made my day to be able to get them to this point!
Blaze is a young Doberman who is here for a major readjustment!
He knocks everyone down, food obsession, cant control or contain his energy, and has no impulse control. I'm very excited about how well he is doing 1 week in!
Plus he is beautiful!
Blaze is loving this new busy yard toy.
Love when the business can get new toys! Muffin and Deuce are loving this giant tennis ball!
I got new dogs yesterday and today I worked one of them and then seperated them.
Well one of them started up after I seperated them and my huskies did not disappoint.
The other ones have stopped fussing and my huskies (mainly Akira) are still howling and carrying on.
My neighbors get to hear the song of their people and they probably think im beating them! Haha
We went hiking yesterday evening after getting work done. Renji never ceases to amazing me at how well he does in these situations. He is always checking in with me. Never runs far. Can explore and run without going crazy far from me. I love that his training allows for this. I don't even put in a lot of work with him anymore. We just brush up every so often and do a lot of training through play. He recalled every time I needed it and even met another dog to play but came back when I called. (I did not see the other person coming on us and failed at that part. Renji met them and then came back when I called)
This is what I mean when I say a dog to hang out with. I like being able to trust him enough to allow him off lead. We walked the last part on leash and he had no issues
