❤️🐶🐾Cleo enjoyed a Takeout Thursday with Kathy, a committed volunteer. She took Cleo on an exciting adventure, and she did exceptionally well. She treated her to a pup cup at the Old Town Slidell Soda Shop. Cleo behaved remarkably well during the car ride and walks perfectly on a lead. All Cleo truly desires in life is to be with a loving family.🐾❤️🐶

Cleo has captured the hearts of the staff at the shelter, and we would love your help in finding her a home. If you are interested, please contact us at 985-646-4267, extension 2.

Take out Thursday is a program Slidell Animal Control and Shelter has started. You can come to the shelter to take a dog out on a short field trip. This lets dogs like Cleo be seen by more members of the community, gets us great pictures to show off our dog’s personalities, and gives the dogs a break from the shelter. The local park? A hike? Ice cream trips? There are so many great activities that our shelter dogs would love to do with you. Show up between 10am-2pm to take a dog out!

🐾🐈‍⬛Meet Blu! This 6-year-old Belgian Malinois was surrendered because his previous family had to move and couldn’t bring him along.

Blu is exceptionally intelligent, knows several commands, and has a passion for playing frisbee!

Before you think about adopting Blu, it’s important to do some research. Belgian Malinois are highly intelligent and need plenty of daily physical and mental exercise. With the right training, Blu can become a fantastic family companion. Come and meet him!🐾❤️

🐾❤️Meet Seamus, a stunning 6-year-old German Shepherd! Unfortunately, he was returned to the shelter because he doesn’t quite get along with cats. 🤷‍♀️

Seamus deserves a second chance. This sweet boy is feeling confused and lost after being uprooted from his home. Dogs like him form strong bonds with their owners, and being in a shelter filled with unfamiliar smells and sounds can be overwhelming.

The good news is that Seamus is house trained and ready for a loving home. ❤️🐾

Leo, her big (little) brother, was saved by Northshore Humane Society in September 2023 before the quickest foster fail in the history of foster fails. Thanks for the trust. 🌟🐾One of our devoted volunteers took Tyson home for the weekend. When volunteers take a dog home for a night or a weekend, it provides us valuable insights into each dog's personality. Here’s what she shared about Tyson.

“Tyson spent the weekend with us. He is absolutely perfect. Very neutral. He is Housetrained, good with cats, small dogs, kids and big dogs. He knows sit, stay, shake, down and come. He is very obedient and takes correction instantly. Over the weekend I started training him to sit and stay until he is told to get his food and he mastered that quickly.
His personality is just like a giant ball of sunshine. He is so joyful and happy. He will make a family very happy”. 🌟🐾
