🐾🐶❤️After 180 days of waiting since being picked up as a stray, Garth has finally gotten his chance—he’s now in a foster-to-adopt home! He already loves it there, especially with his new 2‑legged brother to play with and keep him company. He was a little nervous getting into the car, but as soon as he did, he sat right down on his brother’s lap, he knew he was on his way home. 🏡🐾

💛 Meet Corndog, affectionately known as Cornelius. This sweet little 9‑year‑old Pomeranian mix has already had quite the journey—he was found as a stray, and sadly, he’s heartworm positive.

His journey hasn’t been easy but his loving personality still shines. He’s crate trained, knows his “sit,” and adores time with his people. He’s playful, affectionate, and loves his walks—his whole face lights up when he sees the leash come out. He has his little quirks, like many pups, he gets a little grouchy when touched while eating and doesn’t want to give up his toys 🧸 but that’s just part of who he is.

What Corndog needs most right now is not just love, but a safe place to heal. We are searching for a *medical foster—or even better, a medical-foster-to-adopt family—* who can give him comfort and care as he goes through heartworm treatment.

Please give Corndog a chance by opening your heart and home. You’d be giving him the greatest gift: a chance at the healthy, happy life he deserves. 🐾

❤️After arriving at the shelter as a stray, AND waiting 347 days, Trick has found his forever home! Now this awesome boy is off to a life filled with love and endless cuddles. We couldn’t be happier for Trick! He is one of the sweetest well balanced dogs ever! Happy Gotcha day!! Let the new adventures begin! 🐾✨

🐾🐶Say hello to Panda. Panda was surrendered to us as an adorable puppy in 2022, but this cute puppy needed some extra care and love. After two months, she was well and found a family with children who welcomed her into their lives. Sadly, less than two years later, Panda was left behind when they moved, finding herself back at the shelter. In May of this year, she was adopted, but soon after, a kind person found her wandering along Old Spanish Trail and Sgt. Alfred and brought her to safety.

Despite everything she has been through, we believe in Panda's potential for a bright future. She was not given the training, support, love and security she needed, and as a result, she developed some food aggression. Now, she is back at the shelter still hoping someone will see her loving spirit and give her the chance and help she deserves….forever…and not give up on her.

When you see Panda playing with other dogs, you’d never guess that this 3-year-old girl has faced challenges or even had any food aggression in her body! She is incredibly patient when playing during group time with the other dogs, even in rough play, and never loses her temper. She just needs a loving hand to help her overcome her food aggression and learn to trust again.

Panda is looking for a savior—someone who can provide her with the time, patience, and love she needs to thrive. If you or someone you know can give her the love she deserves, please reach out to us!❤️

🌟✨❤️We are excited to share an update on sweet Dior. Today, Dior underwent her cherry eye surgery and is recovering well. She will be spending time with a caring foster family while she heals.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Dr Michelle Poche and the compassionate team at Gause Boulevard Veterinary Hospital for generously performing Dior’s surgery free of charge. We are also truly thankful to everyone who donated to cover the cost of Dior’s medications and anesthesia—this would not have been possible without your kindness and support.

Dr. Poche’ sent us photos of Dior from her surgery and recovery, and shared how much their team adores her.

Thanks to your generosity, Dior’s future is brighter than ever. Her journey of love and care is only just beginning of a forever after with love. ❤️🐾🌟

ACE is BEING FOSTER TO ADOPT!!❤️

♠️🐾❤️Meet Ace, an 11-year-old Labrador Retriever mix whose gentle heart has touched everyone around him. Ace was found wandering alone, severely malnourished and struggling.
Though Ace is older, his energy shines whenever someone joins him in the yard—chasing and play bowing with happiness. Every simple comfort—a warm bed, a good meal—means the world to him, and he greets kindness with such deep gratitude and a wagging tail. He wants to play with every dog he meets.
Please don’t let his age keep you from meeting this sweet soul. Ace’s loving nature makes him a wonderful companion, eager for a family to cherish. 🐾🏡❤️

🌰🐾Meet Acorn, a playful 7-month-old Shepherd Mix who’s bursting with love and happiness. Once a stray, Acorn now greets every day with playful energy and affection—his wagging tail never stops when friends are near.
Acorn is a big-hearted puppy who adores everyone he meets. He’s smart and eager to learn, making him a wonderful fit for a loving family ready to help him grow.🐾❤️

🌟The Slidell Animal Control and Shelter and the Animal Assistance League of Slidell will be closed on Monday, September 1 for Labor Day. We look forward to seeing everyone when we’re back open on Tuesday, September 2 during our usual hours.
