Happy New Year’s Eve!
2023/2024 deer are finally complete.
Time to focus on my Show piece for the NY show this April.

In a couple short months I’ll be getting my bow season customers hides back from the tannery and starting on some customer deer. From now till April I will be working hard on my competition project for the New York show.
I still have just a couple slots left for the 2024/25 season. Once filled I’ll be closed for mounts till turkey season. Then I’ll be doing fans.

On this day we all give thanks to what we appreciate most. For me at Peak Rut taxidermy, it’s all of you! Thank you all for believing in me and trusting me with your trophies. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and good luck all who are in this wet snow!

This year’s clientele have absolutely SMASHED the game of whitetail hunting! I am beyond humbled and HONORED to be able to provide next level customer service and deer mounts to all of you!
I have limited spaces left for shoulder mounts and pack mounts,however I am still taking in Euros and mammals for tanning. I have one space available for a full size coyote/cat or fox. A couple more spaces for small mammal shoulder mounts and unlimited space for skull/antler mounts.
If you have a deer, bear or other mammal you’d like a euro done for please give me a call. I use beetles to clean them and the degreasing process is a low and slow bath that takes about 30 days. Once completely dry they then go through the whitening stage.
I am still buying whitetail capes and crediting customers with a discounted euro if desired or antler mount.

I said when I made this page I would open up the world of taxidermy to anyone interested.
Well.. behind the scenes can make any hunter almost cringe if they knew what we had to do to the deer after they left.
Here, I can be seen skinning out this bucks head and prying the skin from the pedicles. Not a fun job!
Nor is the next step, cutting the skull cap!

I’m hearing a lot of shops are reaching Max capacity for deer. Peak Rut Taxidermy still has room.

Saturday kicks off southern zone gun season. I want to wish everyone the best of luck. Be safe afield and kind and courteous to your fellow hunters.
If you’re interested in getting a deer or bear mounted by me or another taxidermist here are a few things to remember.
(It seems like a lot to ask but you have to remember keeping the fur and skin from anymore damage the animal inflicted on itself is vital for a beautiful mount)

1. Please PLEASE skin your deer to the back of the skull. (Once you do this you can cut through the meat and into the cartilage and twist the head from the carcass) or as close as possible to it.
2. Do not cut a hole in your animals ear for your tag.
3. Please do not drag your animal out with a rope around its neck as it breaks the hair and makes for a rough looking mount.
4. Do not cut up the sternum into the chest
5. Do not slice your animals throat or shoot it in the head.

If you need instructions on caping your deer you can find them in my photos. If you’re not to far I can cape it for an additional 40$
All rotten skulls are a minimum of 350 to euro and all old deer will be refused as well. (Old as in he rode in the back of your truck all weekend then hung for an additional week)
The longer it takes to get to me the higher the probability that your deer will lose its hair in the tanning process.

If you need help what so ever, please give me a shout. I’ll help you as much as I can.

Again, I know it sounds demanding, but as artists we need the best canvas possible. Prices are higher than ever and I want to provide you with the best possible mount I can!

I’m offering 5 rush order deer spots. Get your deer back sooner.
A rush ordered deer will be in house tanned and ready to mount in 2-3 months. This option does not change the quality of your deer. I spend the same amount of time and attention to detail. The wait time is 80% on me shipping hides to the tannery and waiting to get them back. For 60$ more you’ll get your buck back sooner!
Let me know at drop off and I’ll add your deer to the list.
