IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING SAVE THIS LIFE MICROCHIPS -
We have recently discovered that Save This Life microchip company has ceased operations nationwide, and unfortunately, Save This Life microchips have been used for many GHS adopted animals. Please note that Save This Life has unlinked their database from all registries, meaning if someone were to search a Save This Life chip number, no contact information will be shown, making it impossible for a lost pet to be reunited.
If your pet has a Save This Life microchip, to ensure it remains a reliable safety measure, you must register the chip number via another microchip registry. PetLink, HomeAgain, and AKC Reunite are reputable registries, but they require a fee. Below are alternative microchip registries with free registration options:
Free Pet Chip Registry – A free, universal registry compatible with all microchip brands. You can register your pet at https://www.freepetchipregistry.com
24PetWatch - This company offers both a free registration option and a paid membership option at https://www.my24pet.com/
If you are unsure of your pet’s microchip number, your vet clinic should be able to scan the chip to get the number. You can also stop by GHS. Per Save This Life, their chip numbers start with a 991 or 900164 sequence. If you know the chip number, you can determine whether your pet’s microchip was issued by Save This Life, by searching the number with the AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool at aaha.org. When the number is searched, it will show that no information is found in participating databases.
This is also a gentle reminder that even if your pet isn't using a Save This Life microchip, now is a great time to check the contact information on the registration. Our goal will always be to help reunite our furry friends with their families!
