She came to me because her dog was reactive to any other dog, and really just didn’t have any obedience. We accomplished this in 4 lessons:)… but the owner put the work in and as you can see she got the results she wanted!!

What do your dogs do when the doorbell rings ????

!

10/04/2022

She said to me, I want to be able to walk my dogs without them pulling me, crossing sides, and lunging/barking at any other dog they see it’s so frustrating and embarrassing. I would say mission accomplished, I am so proud of them!!!

A little where we started…. And where we are headed preview. One of the more challenging parts of my job isn’t training the dogs, it’s training the owner “how” with out stepping in too much. This dog is a handful for a puppy and I’m so proud of these two, this is after two lessons!!! Nice job Chelsea and Bia!!!! Refer to before video just before this one.. quite a difference :)🐾🦴🐶🐕

Its a little video of where we started…..🤪😬

24/02/2022

There is so much I can write about this video, I’ll try to stick to only one point😬. This is my dog Jack. It would be assumed by many since I’m a trainer he knows all the “stuff” and is perfectly behaved😂 Here’s the thing that cannot be overstated and is so misunderstood, these dogs of ours are smart, VERY SMART! Jack knows who he can essentially “play” and get away with what he wants even though he is “trained”. He proves this every time a new person grabs his leash, and yes I do laugh a little only cause I’ve been there many times myself ☺️ My father watches him a lot, and Jack has got away with a lot during these times. I explained this very concept to my dad several times until he finally had enough. The deal breaker, the game changer you ask…..he watched what the dog knew and would do for me. My dad had a relationship with the dog, and a good one too but his boundaries weren’t clear to Jack and he didn’t reinforce or enforce enough or consistently! Remember folks, no is just as powerful as a yes! My dad and Jack went to work. He decided he was going to invest in Jack and raise his expectations of the dog because the dog can and will do it. This video is the first result of that, and my dad was so proud of himself lol!!! Because of this their relationship has also improved, I think Grandpa is Jack’s favorite❤️

My job is amazing but I am the worst at taking before videos… hoping by posting this I’ll remember 🤦🏼‍♀️🙄.

This is Ori, she struggles with anxiety and impulse control. To say the least being around horses or dogs was not easy for her. She would solve this issue by lunging/pulling, barking, or whining. Her owners have been dedicated in investing time and learning how to communicate effectively with her. Today she worked impressively in front of a horse. I’m so proud of the team (team meaning dog and owner).

My job is to train dogs (yes), my bigger job is to train humans how to handle their dogs effectively :)

Maverick learning some off leash skills!!! He is quickly learning where the source of treats are and that good behavior earns him lots of those❤️🐶🐾

Maverick learns recall with Jack as an added distraction. This lil guy is crushing it his first week and is learning to be nice with other dogs 🙂!

I love my clients and helping them, my favorite thing in the world!!!

"Iris is our 15 month old dog who was reactive with dogs. It must have been awful for her to be so stressed … it certainly was for us. I told Leah that our specific goal for Iris was to go hiking on a narrow trail without reacting. It’d be nice too, if she could hang out under a table in a beer garden or in a local coffee shop. Or walk a gauntlet of people, dogs, balloons, a parade and a moving train at a town festival, like she did with Leah. We want Iris to live a Pacific Northwest life.

We finished our third lesson with Leah three days ago and on a popular long trail today, Iris and I met more than twenty dogs. Iris did not have a single reaction. She didn’t get alert, focus, freeze up, huff and puff, or make any attempt to lunge. She paid more attention to wooly bears than to dogs!

For us, Leah’s confidence was the key. Owning a reactive dog is scary, intimidating and so very stressful. Learning the nuts and bolts of handling a reactive dog is the easy part. Leah taught us that. Learning to have confidence is hard. And she taught us that. Taking Iris down that trail with her being relaxed on a loose leash, her trusting me and me trusting her … it was magical."

Hello Everyone, meet Maverick. He is a guest all the way from Portland Oregon staying for 3 weeks for our board and train program. Maverick is a sweet boy but needs some guidance on how to interact with certain dogs. His owners chief complaint that going for walks is embarrassing because of how he reacts to some dogs.

Mavericks first step, meeting my pack. He did very well as you can see. One step at a time:)

Welcome Maverick!!!!!

QUESTION!!!!

I’m taking a poll. You can direct message me if you prefer but I would encourage everyone to post on here publicly and then like whatever comment/post another person does that you agree with so I know what hits home for most. For those of you who own dogs, what are your top two least favorite behaviors your dog displays that you want fixed?

Who out there has a dog reactive dog???? I know someone does. It’s the worst when you really want to bring your best friend everywhere with you but don’t because of the fear of embarrassment, the stress, or worse your dog bites another dog or person. CALL ME!!!!!

I’ve been there!!! Anyone who knows me, knows I’ve had that dog. I currently own that dog, but he is trained and rehabilitated I take him everywhere. Below is a photo of Iris (on the left) and her new friend Bella. Iris was very dog reactive. I was the 6th trainer her owner hired to solve this problem. Guess what… Iris is fixed. She has been to the dog park, hiking trails, and dog friendly coffee shops. In 3 lessons we solved this. What most don’t realize it’s building confidence in the owner not even the dog… call me I’ll show you why!!!!

The process of training….. this is Suni (on the right) and her new buddy Jack. She is learning down/stay in real world situations which is full of distractions and temptations. I am so proud of her and her owners for consistently putting in the work each week and challenging her a little more each lesson. Yay Suni!!!

Training in real life situations is the best. Everyone wants to be able to bring their dog with them and not be embarrassed with their dogs behavior. I am here to help!!!!! Call me, this is why I love my job:)

When you get tired of chaos in the house and two dogs nudging their noses into the food bin when you’re trying to scoop it….. here’s your solution …… also sorry I’m in my pajamas 🙂

26/08/2021

Now that he knows down, it’s time to build his “stay” in that position with some distractions. This progression can happen fairly quick. He learned “down” 2 days ago, and here is this mornings obedience session after practicing the command for two days. Remember always have a plan when training and a goal, even if it’s small. Progress is progress.🙂
