When preparing our dogs for life with kids, it is important that we have multiple ways to implement safe management! 💚

One of the most common ways we teach parents to do this is called Success Stations! ✅

The key to success stations is choosing the right fit for your dog and your home environment! 🏠

The photo above is a great example of placing a string of baby gates around a designated area to help keep your baby safe while they are taking a nap or doing tummy time while allowing your dog to have free roam of the rest of the home!

No two success stations are the same because no two families are the same! 🐾

Bond strengthening.
Instructional.
Deepening connections and understanding for you both.
If you are new to rewarding the behaviour you want to see more off....there are a few pitfalls with this.
Number one would be rewarding at the exact wrong time (very easily done).
🔵Your dog may jump up to get the rewards as you deliver them (you may be rewarding the jumping...which can be repeated).
🔵Not physically prepared to reward and missing the perfect time...then rewarding much later than you should.
🔵Not recognising that NOT barking when another dog does IS rewardable.
🔵Ignoring when they start to make great choices
Give it a go....it can change everything.

Charlie and his Mom started training today. They learned clicker training, focus and engagement and we added a hand cue to his sit to help it become more reliable. We also worked on the drop it cue, so they can play fetch together. Great job team Charlie! ❤️🐾

Training 2 for Beignet and her Mom! She is a pretty shy girl so we are working at her pace and shaping behaviors so she feels more comfortable with it. So far we have worked on focus, sit, down and barking at the doors/ windows. They are seeing positive changes and I’m so happy to hear that! Way to go team Beignet! ❤️🐾

Preventing dog bites to children and educating families is at the heart of what we do! 🐾

Through years of education, experience, talking to families who have had bites occur as well as research, we KNOW that one of the best ways to help prevent dog bites to children is ACTIVE, AWAKE, AWARE, ADULT Supervision; but what does that mean? 🤔

ACTIVE Supervision means being physically in the room with your dog and child and having your full attention on them at all times. Never leave your dog and child unsupervised together! Even curious dogs can unintentionally cause harm.

AWAKE Supervision means having a plan for safe sleep! When you or your baby are sleeping, where is your dog? Are you feeling sleepy while breastfeeding or watching TV? 😴

AWARE Supervision means having an understanding of your dog’s body language, sensitivities, how they feel around being around children!

ADULT Supervision means having someone who is responsible for the dog and or child in situations in order to help create success and decrease stress! It is not the job of another child to watch the dog and their body language, it is that of an adult!
