Life of a rescued dog
Life of a rescued dog; Benny making his first Christmas ornament with his family!
(This is the baby boy who was so terribly burned by intentionally being doused in bleach. His foster-turned-adoptive family cared for his whole body wounds where his skin fell off… it was an amazing effort. Benny still has no hair on half his body where the scars grew, but he is loved, and making Xmas ornaments for his first Christmas. Thank you Cayla and family- we love you guys SO MUCH!)
How to entertain puppies at sleepy time. 🤣Ten likes his toys hung through the top so he can figure out how to get them down.
I love that she is starting to feel better after having pneumonia. She is even gaining weight and has some things to say now that she doesn't have a cough.
It looks like she has opinions now that she is healthy! 🤣
Happy pups are gaining weight and getting stronger.
The Elfin seven have settled in and are starting to be a bit more playful. They also are starting to leave a bit of the puppy food between meals as they understand there will be food available all day long for them to eat. We get excited to see the changes and know that in a week or two they will look totally different as they start to get all the nutrition they need.
Poor tiny things were picked up running around in front of a store and taken to a high kill shelter. Thanks to people we know we learned about them the night before they were scheduled to be put to sleep and stepped in!!! Thanks to all the people that make our tiny rescue happen with all the donations. We are making a difference! Please follow the elvindoodles as they get healthy and look for new homes.
Black puppies
Wow… hard to see how thin these puppies are, and they have been getting fed at the shelter for 2 weeks! They must have been starving when they were dumped…
Painful to see babies so neglected-

This moment is so special to me.......
If you know me you know.
I love the rescue moms and babies.
As we transition into the unknown future our rescue is forced to change with it. The ranch we have called our home is up for sale and we have no idea where we will end up. We have no place to call home.
With that knowledge we say goodbye to rescuing moms heavy pregnant from the high kill shelter of Bakersfield. We say goodbye to sweet puppy breath and finding them their forever homes........
These are our last babies and I cherish them and the stories the moms brought with them.
Summer (who I called Summer Sausage because she was so long) was found tied in Tulare in 110 degrees by an electrical cord. She was heavy pregnant. She gave birth that night with the person that saved her. She was transferred to an amazing rescue up north but when she started biting the foster they had no idea what to do with such an aggressive dog. They transferred her to us and she was flown to us with 13 day old puppies.
She bit Kady and I SO many times, feeling like she needed to keep her puppies safe!!! The tenth puppy who was so tiny instantly needed intervention to try to save him. Our amazing vet, Dr Novy, said he probably would not make it. Kady spent the first night tube feeding him and then from that point on I was able to bottle feed him. Amazingly he stayed alive and is thriving now ready to find his forever person. His name is ten of course! Summer became the sweetest dog mom ever and found her foster home (which I expect will become a foster fail).
The emaciated pit bull mix puppy mom (she is so small I think she is mixed with chihuahua) was scheduled to be put to sleep heavy pregnant. She had belonged to a homeless person. She was going to die and a rescue needed a foster to be able to save her so we said yes. We can do this! Two days later she felt safe and delivered 7 little puppies. She also was protective and said please don't handle my babies yet. I understood. A few we
