🐢 We are monitoring the weather for a possible sea turtle cold-stunning event, though it currently seems unlikely.

Cold-stunning happens when sudden temperature drops cause hypothermic shock in sea turtles. Follow our social media for updates.

🐢 Welcome Delta to our hospital! 🐢

This 11.5 lb juvenile green sea turtle was rescued from the tide line at mile marker 6 on South Padre Island. Delta is facing some tough challenges:

💚 Severe FP tumors near the rear flippers and on both eyes.
💚 Condition: Skinny, heavy algae and moderate barnacle load
💚 Energy: lethargic

Treatments include vitamins and fluids to help with hydration and recovery. Stay tuned as our team works to give Delta the care they deserve. 💪🐢

🌟 Our number one moment of 2024? 🌟

Having our dedicated staff, volunteers, crews, supporters, and community members come together to make the dream of the largest indoor sea turtle hospital a reality!

Our new facility is a far cry from our humble start, beginning in 1977 in Ila Loetscher's very own backyard.

Since then, we've seen our hospital transform over the years, with our temporary hospital seeing us through 2024 as we overcame a challenging storm season and our largest patient intake year in history!

As we bring in the new year, we eagerly look to 2025 to welcome this long-awaited new chapter.

The incredible effort and dedication from all has paved the way for the grand opening next year.

Here’s to an incredible 2025 as we strive for a bigger and brighter future for sea turtle conservation ! 🙌🌊

🌟 Number Two🌟

A huge congratulations to the incredible staff and volunteers at Sea Turtle Inc for breaking the record for the most patients treated in a single year, 95 sea turtles with just a few days left of 2024!

This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support of our donors, who help provide the resources needed to rescue, rehabilitate, and release these turtles.

We're counting down our top five biggest moments of 2024!

🌟 Number Three 🌟

This year’s nesting and hatching season tested us in ways we never expected. From relentless storms in what was the earliest hurricane season we've ever had to unexpected flooding, our team faced incredible challenges—but with determination and your support, we persevered.

Every storm we whethered reminded us why we do what we do: to protect sea turtles and ensure their future. Thank you for standing with us through every high tide and tough moment. Together, we’re making a difference, one nest at a time. 💪🐢

We're counting down our top five biggest moments of 2024!

🌟 Number Four 🌟

We’re revisiting one of the most incredible rescue efforts our community has ever seen! In January, staff, volunteers, and community members helped rescue over 950 cold stunned sea turtles.

The numbers, teamwork, and impact were staggering, and we want to shellebrate all of YOU who helped us get them home into the Gulf of Mexico!
