WENDY has been ADOPTED thank you all for sharing.
LAST call for WENDY 4-15-24 she is on the euth list!! please help her!!!
Wendy was just issued a PLEA FOR ASSISTANCE yesterday, TODAY SHE IS URGENT. The kennel is out of space so she is out of time!!!! Poor Wendy has not had a good life 04/09/24 14:44 Wendy arrived at the shelter back in February after possibly being hit by a car, after her exams it was deternined that she did not have any injuries she just was to scared and unsocial to walk. She is defensive around other dogs as she was unsocial when she first came into shelter.
Wendy is available for ADOPTION, FOSTER, or RESCUE.
Per volunteer: Wendy came to me to be leashed; then walked to the back. She still showed some shyness. She explored the play yard; then came over to sit with me as I sat on the ground. She sat on my lap for a time, getting pets and watching as people passed by. We then walked through the lot to the garden. She is shy when walking; yet will hold her ground when she wants to sniff something thoroughly with a slight tail wag. Once in the garden, she mostly walked around sniffing and exploring, getting the occasional pets as I knelt down with her. Once we were done, we took a quiet walk back to her kennel, passing a few staff and citizens on the way. She remained calm and entered her kennel easily.
Kennel staff said she was pacing and not doing well… she has been great for us.
bserved - 04/09/24 18:17 Observed on wellness rounds showing high FAS while in kennel; characterized by rapid side to side pacing while barking and jumping on kennel door. Dog jumped into her water bucket, spilling it but continued reacting towards staff.
POOR WENDY A2366279, she was adopted to what she thought was her FOREVER HOME only to be returned 2 days later for being scared. She is now a PLEA for KENNEL STRESS.

Recent Notes
03/26/24 08:53 per volunteer Wendy was slightly shy; yet stood at her kennel door to be leashed. She walked well to the back, only freezing a couple times due to the barking dogs. Once past them, she relaxed more as we walked to the play yard. She was calm as I placed the clip leash on; then went off to explore the yard. She was calm and a little cautious when I would approach her to per or offer a treat, again loosening up after a few times. She was comfortable climbing steps, calmly stopping part way up when I offered a treat and took a photo. She came to the top to lay beside me as I pet her. She enjoyed exploring the garden, going into the pipes, over the bridge and trying other obstacles that many dogs rarely try; showing a healthy curiosity behind her shyness. She eventually came up to sit next to me on a rock to get pets and a treat. She was much more relaxed returning to her kennel.
03/26/24 08:55 per volunteer Wendy ran to her kennel door as I passed, showing no shyness. I went back and easily leashed her, taking her out to encourage her behavior. She walked with only mild shyness to the lot; then did well on a short walk to the garden. She would stop suddenly on occasion; which I at first thought was shyness. It turned out that she was now confident enough to stop and insist in going over to sniff something she found interesting. She was calm and more playful in the garden, seeking affection and treats often. She stood calmly whenever I approached her and showed a healthy curiosity exploring and climbing some of the obstacles in the garden. We began our walk back to her kennel, encountering three staff people on the way. She was ok at first; then became a bit nervous of the number of people. Once two of them left, she left my side to go over to one to get a treat. After a moment of talking to her, she approached staff seeking pets and leaning on her calmly receiving attention. After some time getting attention, she walked with good confidence back to her kennel.
If you are available to help Wendy please let us know!

All the dogs in the albums are located in Hillsborough County Animal Services in Tampa Fl (Pet “Resource” Center). Every effort is made to keep the information as up to date as possible. If we have not posted how they are with other dogs, cats, and kids, it is because we don't know. Shelter evaluations are difficult due to the stressful environment, so the best thing to do is to go meet the dog. We do our very best as volunteers to meet every dog and post them. Thank you for sharing the dogs and supporting our page.

**** ADOPTION INFO: If you are interested in adopting one of these dogs and they are not euth listed, please just go to the shelter to meet them. All dogs must be adopted in person. If they are euth listed, please THEN PLEASE EMAIL (do not call) per the instructions in the description. THE SHELTER DOES NOT ARRANGE TRANSPORT, it should never be taken lightly to ship a dog to someone. There are very few states who do not euthanize for space, sometimes the best thing to do is to direct someone to their local shelter. DO NOT EMAIL FOR A DOG UNLESS YOU ARE COMMITTED AND WILL BE PICKING THEM UP. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL FOR SOMEONE ELSE!!!
