Chip Your Pet Month
In honor of Chip your Pet Month we encourage all pet owners to get their pet microchipped! A study performed by the Human Animal Support Services found that pets with a microchip are more than THREE times as likely to be reunited with their owners. If your pet has a microchip be sure your contact information is up to date to ensure no delay in reuniting you with your furry friend.

Heartworm disease is a threat year-round, but in April we are working to bring more awareness to this heartbreaking disease.
Heartworms are a life-threatening parasitic infection that can sicken dogs, cats and ferrets in all 50 states. The disease is transmitted when a mosquito bites an infected animal, and then bites your pet. Heartworm larva, then make their way into your pets, body through their bloodstream, and eventually turn into mature worms.
look out for early stage symptoms like your dog, coughing, seeming abnormally, tired after mild to moderate exercise, eating less, losing weight, or even having trouble breathing.
in counts, those symptoms can look like disinterest in food, weight, loss, vomiting, diarrhea, and coughing.
Treatments very depending on the animal. Dogs can get medication that kills mature and immature Heartworms, but this treatment can take a toll on your pets body.
Meanwhile cats, cannot take medication that kills Heartworms. They will have to take medicine that reduces inflammation, antibiotics, and even cardiovascular medication.
The good news is that that Heartworms can be prevented. Oral, topical and injectable heartworm medication is available to reduce your pets risk of getting Heartworms. it’s best to keep your pet on this medicine year-round even during the colder months.
