Myth Monday

You shouldn't cut off a dog's eyelashes because they need them to protect their eyes.

While dogs eyelashes are there to protect their eyes from debris, trimming them will not hurt your dog. Just like hair they will grow back.

We are happy to keep nice long eyelashes if you choose, but be aware that dogs are living beings and sometimes they move! 😀

Myth Monday!

If you shave a doodle before 1yr old it will ruin the coat.

This is false. Doodles have hair and it grows just like yours and mine. It does not hurt the coat to shave the hair off. It will grow back just fine. 😀

We missed Myth Monday so instead we will make it Tip Tuesday!

Myth was bathing your dog between grooming will keep it from getting matted. This is false. If your dog has any matting bathing it will make that matting worse. The water tightens the matting making it harder to get out. It can also trap water against the skin which can cause skin issues.

So our tip for today is when giving your dog a bath at home between grooms make sure that you brush and comb before and after the bath! You want to make sure that there isn't any matting on your dog before you bathe.

Same goes for swimming in the summer! If at all possible make sure to not let your dog swim if they have matting in their coat.

It's Myth Monday. Today's Myth:

You should wait until your puppy is 6 months old to get it groomed.

In reality it is very beneficial for your puppy to be groomed as early as possible. The earlier your puppy learns about the grooming process the easier he/she will be to groom as an adult. Just like socializing your puppy around people and other dogs is good for their development, so is grooming.

Puppies can be started as soon as 8 weeks old with an intro package that includes, bath, blowdry, brush out, nails clipped, ears cleaned and if they have hair that will need to be trimmed as an adult we can clean up their potty area as well as around their eyes.
