A wonderful day at Isothermal!! It brings joy to see our “Equine Horse Science II students” working as a team grooming and cleaning April by shedding her old winter coat. Followed by adding a warm bath. April is close to 30 years of age. In this course we learn about taking care of the young and the geriatric horses.

The special bonus in being an Isothermal graduate is that you can bring your horse back to have help from experts in the field. A student graduate of the Equine Business and the Agribusiness programs brought her horse with x-rays last week to our EQU 111 Horse Science I class to have corrective shoeing.

We posted the films from her veterinarian on the big screens above and made a class out of how to help the horse that is a rescue. Thank you Jack Causby, farrier on-site to help!

Meet some of the team leadership at Metrolina’s facility in York, SC. This group includes Team Leads, Growers, Assistant Growers and Managers. According to Area Manager Matt Nenonen, “We are all one team and help wherever we are needed.”

Managers are responsible for creating a plan for each day, according to the work that needs to be completed.

Team Leads oversee teams in different areas of Metrolina’s York facility, whether in production, in the field for on the shipping dock. Team Leads ensure that the plan for their team each day is executed with the highest efficiency possible.

Growers are responsible for plant care, including making sure the plants hit their scheduled ship times, checking for insects and diseases that may be popping up on plants and treating all the plants with the necessary controls.

Assistant Growers are responsible for irrigating, weeding, pruning, drenching and overall plant care in their assigned areas.

Thanks for all you do to keep our York facility running smoothly, team!

We had great day at Isothermal Community College in the Equine Business program the students learned about the different leg wraps, their purpose, and how to correctly wrap the horses legs for the left and for the right! I sure am proud of my students and the horses who had multiple wraps.
