Treating dogs like this is never easy, but watching their skin heal is a process you never forget after you’ve done one.
After day 03 of treatment the swelling is decreasing, the damaged skin is flaking off instead of clinging to the healthy skin and we are starting to see living skin coming into view.
This Mother’s Day we were notified about a critical case that needed our help. A groom was done last night at 8 pm to ensure the pet could sleep comfortably, excessive treatments are needed. Items needed for this dogs recovery include: a dog bed, blankets, towels, hydrocortisone cream, medicated shampoo, hypoallergenic dog food.
New Case code name
Creamsicle is suffering from alopecia supposedly from allergies, and severely overgrown nails. He was reported to have broken his leg and it appears to have self healed but will need an X-ray to confirm if it healed properly. This poor boy has gone through so much and still has a long road ahead. Prayers for creamsicle.
He received his first medicated bath and nail trim tonight.

14 year old dog, needs foster he is currently being housed with a trainer friend but he deserves to be in a home fit for a super senior pet. Message to be considered for his foster placement (pref my approved foster families but open to others with application), we hope to keep him in one place until end of life.

All Cranberry wants for Christmas is a forever home. She did one trial for Christmas Eve but sadly the other pet in the home is not ready to welcome a new forever friend into their house yet. Cranberry is returning to foster today on Christmas, and the one thing she could possibly want, someone to give her another trial into a forever family.

Cranberry is ready to join a forever family! This sweet girl loves tennis balls, is used to children and overall does great with other dogs, she does experience resource guarding towards food on occasion but this is solved by feeding her in her crate. Would you like to take Cranberry home?

We have a list of families in need of aide for pets this holiday season, help us gift each of them!
Some need something very small such as a new squeaky to play with, or a comfy bed to lay on, a bag of dog food to fill their tummies. Some need a bigger gift such as a veterinary treatment, spay, vaccines. And a few need the greatest gift of all, a forever family to call their own.
This Thanksgiving think about giving to a family who is struggling to provide for their pets.
We have been working to provide aide to a dog in poor conditions. We have finally talked it through with the owners to their understanding that the dog will not survive current conditions and is in need of intensive care to return to health, they have agreed to surrender her. This dog has a massive flea outbreak that has turned to multiple skin infections, she has lost much of the hair on her body and is suffering from anemia and low body mass. Until she can be safely and completely treated to ensure she does not spread any fleas or potential disease she must remain in the current home. She has currently had a medicated bath to begin the process, she will have another medicated bath today followed by flea and tick prevention. The current needs for this dog will include a safe foster or adopter for once she can be removed, blankets so we can help the current owners make her more comfortable and clean until her removal, high quality kibble-1 or 2 bags to ensure her dietary needs are being met until her removal, a veterinary sponsor for vaccines spay and skin care. Current temp foster reports: Can house with other respectful dog as long as fed separately and kenneled when unsupervised. Her kennel manners are excellent and she walks well on leash. Is a super sweet dog just needs time to feel safe and comfortable before becoming her adorable self.

Seeking an Angel Today
Every animals rescue show has one case that sticks with you…..this is that case. Sophie needs an angel today, as she cannot stay at her current foster due to other dogs. Sophie was found neglected, soaked in urine and f***s, and without any access to fresh air or sunshine for weeks. This poor giris 4 -5 years old, and has never seen a vet or been groomed. She is traumatized, but all she really wants to do is play. She is going potty outside now, every 2-3 hours, eating regularly and is slowly warming up to her temporary foster, but she needs YOU. She needs someone who is willing to sit with her, and build a relationship of trust, who has the time and patience to introduce her to people, animals, and situations with positive association. Dog lovers have dogs, that’s what we do, but this gal just can’t be around them unleashed, and would be best suited for a quiet environment with consistency. She wants to love and lick your face and play with her ball. That’s it. She would travel best contained, but with access to open air, as she is a bit of a chewer due to her being contained and alone for so long. She is willing on a leash, and knows basic commands. If you were to leave her alone, she would need to be in a kennel with space, and with a bark deterrent, as she’s being trained to feel safe. Sophie’s rescue was one of the saddest I’ve personally seen, and more details can be given once adopted. This is the dog you would post “before” and “after” photos on, if she can just find her foster. Freddie B has offered coaching to anyone who adopts Sophie, a gift in itself.
Positives
She loves her squeeky balls, and has learned to throw and bounce the balls herself. She will do this all day, if she has an outside space to play in.
She is an incredible guard dog, and has never bit a human.
Negatives
Her most unadoptable quality is she cannot be around other dogs, unleashed. Her old owners were addicts and she was subjected to getting into dog fights quite often. She has become resource protective, so she just needs someone who perhaps doesn’t want cats in the yard, or to keep a perimeter.
She was housed with cats, and was never seen to have an issue with them, but this is something we need to assess.

Cooper came to SCRAPS in Spokane WA 3/27/21. He had been adopted two years prior from them and returned November 2021.
Cooper will steal your heart and your pork chops right off the counter if you let him! He is a very sweet dog once he accepts you as one of his people, until then he's not aggressive just aloof! He loves walking around and sniffing everything ??, swimming ??, car rides ??, hiking ??, the snow ?? and spending time outside the shelter! He was a great passenger in the car for our staff member and does well in public at outreach events.
He has had several unreported minor bites and one reported bite. He has not been aggressive in shelter at all however he does get aroused very easily and shows signs of stress that escalate pretty quickly. His last owner said he is a very sweet dog and extremely lovable. He is a fan favorite at the shelter.
He is extremely dog selective, and likes to chase running children and cats so he needs to be the center of your world! If you have room for this big love in your life, email them at [email protected]

Nezzy NEEDS a foster ASAP, help us get him free! A trainer has been assigned to Nezzy case and his foster will be provided free training consults on Nezzy’s behalf. Can you welcome Nezzy into your home?
Nezzy will take time to build trust and needs a patient gentle hand. He is a current shelter staff favorite. He has barrier reactivity but is fine outside the kennel. Is nervous around new people, dogs and situations.
