A good resource for our newest local babies.

Classes are back! We are doing three Drop In Classes…Wednesday June 19th at 5pm, Wednesday June 26th at 5pm and Saturday June 29th at 10am.

We require a minimum of 4 to attend for the classes to proceed. To sign up send an email to [email protected]. If 4 people do not sign up for the class, we will cancel it.

Classes can be for Puppies, Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. If you attend Day School, you can use this class as you Parent/Trainer Conference Lesson.

The cost is $55 per class and must be paid in advance. If you are new to PCA, you will receive the paperwork required in a reply to your interest email. All dogs attending must be up to date on all of their vaccines.

Once I have 4 people interested, you will receive an invoice for the class or classes you have signed up to attend.

Reminder to all Day School Parents, your Parent/Trainer Lesson is included in your Day School Pack. There will be no charge for your class.

It is heartbreaking that we as dog owners have to deal with this epidemic but it is here.

Please be vigilant when you have your dog in public places.

Last Wednesday afternoon, Engine 15 was dispatched to the 2900 block of East Queen Avenue for a reported overdose. Upon arrival, they encountered a distraught woman holding a tiny, three-pound, nine-month-old Chihuahua. Lieutenant Justin Wells, Firefighter Bridget Blackmore, and Firefighter Blake Slater quickly noticed that the dog was distressed and lethargic. The owner explained that she had found the dog chewing on a pipe in her backyard, and since then, it had been difficult to rouse and keep awake.

Suspecting a narcotic overdose due to the dog's slow breathing, pinpoint pupils, and lethargy, the firefighters administered a small dose of Narcan and contacted an emergency veterinarian. Following the veterinarian's orders, they administered an additional dose. After the second dose, the dog quickly became more alert and showed purposeful movement, much to the owner's relief.

As this is the second canine narcotic overdose that Spokane Fire has handled in the last two weeks, we would like to remind parents of both children and furry animals to make sure they monitor what goes into our little loved ones' mouths.

Our Kennel refurb project is complete. Now they have a heated and A/C inside, then outside they have new "pet proof" astro turf with brick edging, and lattice all around because we have found that when the babies are little the chain link holes could be big enough to be a hazard.

I wonder if Kris will let me use the Dyson on the Astro turf? 😜

Mitzi seems to be visibly bigger every day. She went for her 3rd shot and rabies vaccine on Wednesday and she was 29 lbs!

She is 73% sweetheart and 27% spaz. She seems to be timid about anything new but gets over it quickly.

She will get her final shot on the 25th and then watch out world, she will be out and about experiencing all the world has to offer.

Introducing our new part time assistant Security specialist "Mitzi". She will be assisting Rayne in keeping the compound safe against Amazon drivers, birds, and random stray cats.

She will eventually go full time when she has mastered her jump on the couch technique. Currently she only has a 20% success rate.

We weighed Mitzi last night. She weighed in at 27.3 lbs.

Mitzi has this figured out. She is kind of a ninja puppy and disappears on us. She would wait at the door and if we didn't recognize that fact quickly enough, she would just p*e by the door.

Now she has figured out the bell that notifies Dad to get off his lazy butt and let her out.

That being said, there has been some "bell abuse". Sometimes she just wants to go "visit" with the kitty or go lay in the sun.

Oh well, overall it is a win!
