Patterson Family Danes is no more.
We are closing our doors permanently with this name, way of breeding, and everything that comes with it. We originally started breeding for the love of the danes. We did not have a lot of knowledge about breeding, but we knew that is where our heart was , and we wanted to look for the right people to join in creating beautiful danes. I have made bad decisions, good decisions , and everything in between, and Lord, have we had mistakes and learned from them. I adopted wrong dogs, unhealthy dogs from other breeders around here, and great dogs. I made so many mistakes while learning how to carefully and correctly breed dogs (still learning) and have so much to go. But we are trying and more than willing to do better and be better. We have had an accidental litter, a bad combination litter, and had things run through our property that we thought we did everything to avoid and prevent. I had the dreaded ecoli and parvo outbreak at my house, which ultimately led to the downfall of the last year. We have worked hard at fixing the wrongs we have done and making sure not to do them again. I tore apart the house, remodeled, and sold the house to get away from the physical parts of all of it. Though, emptionally still recovering from the toll, it takes on you. We have spayed/neutered a bunch of dogs for not passing health testing or just passing bad traits on, we also closed chapters with a few people and dogs that are downright negative. No one gives you a handbook on how to fix your mistakes, right your wrongs, or do better.. you just have to do better and be better. All of these things have led us to completely close down Patterson Family Danes. We have moved, made sure our current dogs are up to OFA health testing standards, along with getting the genetic testing through embark on the pack, and have implemented new ways of raising litters and adults. We will rebrand for the better and hope to continue to learn from the mistakes that we have made leading up to this point. I don't claim to be perfect and never will.. and I have made a LOT of mistakes with dogs, puppies, and people. But, I’ll always try and do better.
Thank you for reading ❤ !
