Today one of my owners made the gut wrenching decision to give back her HH rats (at no fault of theirs). She did the right thing and messaged me first and like I tell all of my owners: I will ALWAYS take back any rat I produce no matter what the situation. That being said, after their quarantine, they will be reintroduced to the male community cage to live out their days with their father and uncles! If you EVER have a reason things aren’t working out with your HH rats please please please give them back to me. I would much rather any baby I produce come back to live with me than end up potentially in a bad home or as snake food. Thank you so much to the owner for being responsible and messaging me. And thank you for taking such good care of these boys, even if it was only for a little while 🖤

I have made the decision to further downsize my rattery. As much as I would love to work with multiple lines at once, it’s just not a possibility right now. Unfortunate for me, but this is a great opportunity for ya’ll looking for a grown ratty or a few! I’ll be posting photos later today or tomorrow on this post for anyone looking to add something unique to their mischief!

Opal FINALLY had her babies! 14 little wiggly hairless jelly beans!! For those of you looking for an infamous HHR hairless rat, this is gonna be your litter! With 4 years of pedigree behind them, these particular beans are going to be your best friend! I have hand selected them to be sweet, adventurous, and most of all, HEALTHY AND HAIRLESS! 😬❤️

As promised, the updated marble baby photos😁 This is my first litter from Fritz and she’s doing wonderfully. These guys do not come from Hardly Hairless originals so I am only offering partial pedigrees for them ❤️ all three are quick to come up to you looking for treats and scored at least a 3 out of 5 on the temperament test but I will warn you they are far more interested in getting into trouble at this age than snuggling 😅 I will see how they age and progress before taking applications for them to be safe since I am still feeling out their personalities but if they are anything like their mother, they will be reserved at first but sweet little things once they get to know you!

Guys it’s almost baby time! Fritz’s litter is being weaned next week (I’ll be posting photos tomorrow morning) and Sprout and Opal are both confirmed pregnant and due any time 😁❤️ we are hitting the ground rolling this spring!

I’ve hesitated making this post but as always I strive to be as transparent as possible. A few of the new girls including Delta and Charlie have shown signs of maternal aggression which I have a zero tolerance policy for.
That being said, any of the new girls that I’ve gotten who haven’t been able to pass the temperament test will be sent to experienced pet-only homes which I have already arranged. It hurts my heart to see them go but not every rat is fit to be a mommy and that’s okay! They will be loved and cherished as strictly pets in a friend’s home where they can live out their days ❤️

Since we are growing both in numbers and in popularity going forward your experience with us will look a little differently but hopefully better for everyone involved!

Firstly, all rats will be leaving here with two pieces of paper: a contract you and I both will sign at the time of pickup (we both get a copy) and an official pedigree. A pedigree shows your rats parentage up to 4-5 generations and is just further proof of what you are getting; a healthy and amazing young rat who was bred both with purpose.

Secondly, as we are offering additional variations and caring for so many rats is becoming costly, the price for all of our baby rats is going up to $30. This way I can continue to offer what I will be offering and that price is regardless of color, s*x, or variation. So a hairless will be as much as a Burmese or a Harley, I do not believe in charging more for a certain color or fur type.

Thirdly, I will begin meeting people halfway to pick up their rat for an additional fee of $1 per mile capping at 30 miles FROM SPRINGFIELD OHIO. So if you are having me meet you anywhere other than at my preferred pickup spot here in Springfield, you will be charged an additional fee. If the meeting place is over 30 miles from Springfield, we will need to discuss other options (I am always happy to work with transportation groups!).

Fritz has some big news! although I had zero plan on breeding the new girls just yet, it seems a few of them might have had other ideas and have come to me expecting 😅 pray for me ya’ll, I’ve never had more than two litters at once so this will be quite the adventure coming up! That being said, I’m definitely going to be making ratty maternity photos a thing 😍

Feels so weird having an empty nest now that all of Sage’s and Dory’s beans are gone. How are everyone’s babies doing?? Would love to see updated photos ❤️

I’ve got some big changes coming soon too! I have a wonderful opportunity that has arisen and like always I want to be completely transparent with all of you.

I will be retiring Sage due to no fault of hers but she will be staying in the communal female cage to help raise future littles because she is so good with them, so she will not be up for adoption. Wilbur will also be enjoying his retirement as he is now nearing the 2.5 year old mark and as he is my heart rat, he’ll be staying around.

That being said, I will be raising one of Dory’s daughters (Opal) to replace Sage and bringing in some new rats in varieties I’ve never worked with before next week (Silvermane, Harley, and a few others) I will be keeping my hairless lines going but will likely stop breeding for Martens.

After the quarantine phase is over, I will be assessing each of the rats I bring in before making a decision on who will be breeding so stay tuned! We are going to have some cool looking babies coming by spring!

As far as upcoming litters; Dory will be having her final litter (all hairless beans) before she is also retired and again, will not be up for adoption because she is just so good with helping raise and teach the babies. Opal will be bred for the first time in late February (also all hairless beans).

If you are interested in an older rat, or even a baby right now, please let me know! Although I don’t have any retired rats for adoption or babies in the nest right this second, I can send you in the right direction.

And if you are just waiting on a Hardly Hairless rat, I appreciate your patience and cooperation while I grow! Like I tell all of my adopters, we are best friends now! My mission statement has always been and will always be to create top notch pets and maintain relationships with all of the people I meet along the way!
