Elegguá (also spelled Eleguá or Eleguá) is one of the most important orishas (deities) in the Yoruba religion, which includes traditions like Santería, Ifá, and Candomblé. He is the master of roads, doors, and crossroads.
The Messenger: Elegguá acts as the vital bridge between the human world and the divine realm. All prayers must go through him first to be heard by the other gods.
Opener and Closer of Doors: He holds the keys to destiny, fortune, and misfortune. He is invoked to clear obstacles and open pathways to new opportunities.
The Trickster: As a deity of the crossroads, he often tests human resolve with tempting choices to help people mature and grow.
The catholic saint that represents Eleggua is the holy infant of atocha, Elegguá is also frequently syncretized with Saint Anthony of Padua and the Ánima Sola (the Lonely Soul in Purgatory)
The Devine number of this deity is 3, his colors are mainly red and black. It also depends what other colors are included alongside red and black for each Individual, that would only be based on your path once initiated.
The crossroads (like a four way street) or even (four way train tracks) are places you bring this deity offerings.
