Swiftwater Farm

Swiftwater Farm Our goal is to produce a horse that we would like to ride and show ourselves. We have a small band of broodmares, all of whom are good riding horses.

They are carefully selected to be both good sport horses, athletic, correct and rideable and potential broodmares, good pedigrees with strong family sucess in competition. We select stallions to compliment each mare. All of our horses are selected for type, movement and ride ability. We produce horses that are successful in both dressage and jumping – with the talent to appeal to the professional

rider and the temperament suitable for the amateur owner. Most of our mares are Holsteiners. Holsteiners are the oldest of the warmblood breeds. They date from 1150 when two monks returning to Holstein from the 5th Crusade with some horses they had won in battle, were granted a license to breed horses by their grateful sovereign. They have been breed for 800 years on the grassy fields of northern Germany. They are big, strong powerful animals with a strong constitution and a super disposition. They excel in the Olympic disciplines of show jumping and dressage. We selected Holsteiner mares because the genetic type is very strong. We can then use either Holsteiner stallions or outcross stallions in an attempt to solidify desireable characteristics. Our ultimate goal is to produce horses that can win in at the international level. Swiftwater farm is located just outside Eugene, Oregon on the McKenzie River. Owners Jack and Becky Cobb, along with daughter Lauren Cobb Pardo breed two or three foals a year. Our horses are turned out on grass, daily year round. They are stabled at night, and recieve the best care we can provide. We can give each foal the attention it needs yet allow them to grow up with other horses by limiting ourselves to two a year. In an attempt to promote the NA based sport horse industry begining in 2008 all of our horses will be registered with the Continental Studbook We are always happy to show our horses at any time. Visitors are welcome.
