I hope this message finds everyone well. I wanted to take a moment to share some important updates regarding the cattery. As many of you know, the current economic situation has affected so many aspects of our lives. It’s become increasingly difficult for families to bring new pets into their homes, leading to a decline in adoptions across the board, from rescues to pedigreed kittens. Day by day, the impact has grown tougher on responsible breeders, as some customers are driven to backyard breeders to cut costs, which has led many quality catteries to downsize or close as of late.
As I shared in previous updates, I’ve made the difficult decision to downsize instead of closing my cattery. This decision is due not only to the impact of the economy but also the increasing stress and, at times, unfortunate harassment and ill treatment from certain customers, and my joy being taken away from what I am passionate about. This means that several of my adult females will be retired and spayed in the coming months. They will be available for the cost of their vetting, and some may be listed as breeders. I have also adjusted prices for pet-only kittens, particularly those with long tails and normal paws, and due to changes in veterinary policies, we can no longer alter them under six months of age before rehoming.
With my work responsibilities and family commitments, I’m also not home as much as before, and my time is largely devoted to household tasks alongside the cattery. This limits my ability to take photos and videos as often as I’d like. Once I adjust to these changes, I hope to share updates again, although likely not as frequently as in the past. Please know I will always do my best to keep everyone in the loop.
To ensure kittens are fully ready for their new homes, they will be up for choosing at 8-10 weeks of age -no longer at 3-4 weeks of age- and will start going home at 12-13 weeks, or once they reach over 3 pounds. If you’re interested in a particular kitten, please feel free to fill out an application, and I can add you to a waitlist for a deposit on a specific kitten or future litter that meets your preferences. This will become our standard practice moving into next year.
Thank you all for your understanding and continued support. I am deeply grateful for the community we’ve built together and hopeful for positive changes ahead.
