I hope this message finds everyone well. I wanted to take a moment to share some important updates regarding the cattery. As many of you know, the current economic situation has affected so many aspects of our lives. It’s become increasingly difficult for families to bring new pets into their homes, leading to a decline in adoptions across the board, from rescues to pedigreed kittens. Day by day, the impact has grown tougher on responsible breeders, as some customers are driven to backyard breeders to cut costs, which has led many quality catteries to downsize or close as of late.

As I shared in previous updates, I’ve made the difficult decision to downsize instead of closing my cattery. This decision is due not only to the impact of the economy but also the increasing stress and, at times, unfortunate harassment and ill treatment from certain customers, and my joy being taken away from what I am passionate about. This means that several of my adult females will be retired and spayed in the coming months. They will be available for the cost of their vetting, and some may be listed as breeders. I have also adjusted prices for pet-only kittens, particularly those with long tails and normal paws, and due to changes in veterinary policies, we can no longer alter them under six months of age before rehoming.

With my work responsibilities and family commitments, I’m also not home as much as before, and my time is largely devoted to household tasks alongside the cattery. This limits my ability to take photos and videos as often as I’d like. Once I adjust to these changes, I hope to share updates again, although likely not as frequently as in the past. Please know I will always do my best to keep everyone in the loop.

To ensure kittens are fully ready for their new homes, they will be up for choosing at 8-10 weeks of age -no longer at 3-4 weeks of age- and will start going home at 12-13 weeks, or once they reach over 3 pounds. If you’re interested in a particular kitten, please feel free to fill out an application, and I can add you to a waitlist for a deposit on a specific kitten or future litter that meets your preferences. This will become our standard practice moving into next year.

Thank you all for your understanding and continued support. I am deeply grateful for the community we’ve built together and hopeful for positive changes ahead.

🚨Kitten Care at Our Cattery🚨: Frequently Asked Questions

As a veterinary technician and breeder, I prioritize the health and well-being of our kittens through the following protocols:

1. Deworming: Our kittens are dewormed every two weeks using Drontal,Panacur and/or Pyrantel Pamoate, as is standard among breeders.

2. FVRCP Vaccinations: The first and second FVRCP boosters are administered by me, with the initial booster typically given at 8-9 weeks of age for optimal response. We use Nobivac® Feline 1-HCP or Nobivac® Feline 1-HCPCh.

3. Third Booster & Rabies Vaccine: The third FVRCP booster is administered at the veterinary clinic. The rabies vaccine, required by law, is administered exclusively by a veterinarian at 13-16 weeks of age.

4. Full Health Exam: Kittens receive a comprehensive health exam between 12-16 weeks of age to ensure they’re healthy. This exam includes one or two health certificates, as appropriate.

5. F***l Testing: F***l tests are conducted on one to three kittens per litter at the time of their exam, between 12-16 weeks of age, to monitor for intestinal parasites as we reside in a rural livestock environment.

6. FIV/FeLV SNAP Testing: While FIV/FeLV testing is not routinely required, we perform this test on one kitten per litter if recommended by our veterinarian. All adults and prior kittens from our cattery have tested negative. Buyers may choose additional testing for peace of mind for 1 year health guarantee.

7. Spay/Neuter Contracts: Previously, we offered spay/neuter services before kittens went to their new homes. Due to recent changes, kittens now come with an alter contract requiring the procedure by six months of age. A copy of the owner’s state ID that matches the signed contract for our attorney is required at time of pick up.. No exceptions.

8. Microchipping: Kittens will be microchipped if they undergo sedation for spay/neuter if over 6 months of age. For safety and comfort, we avoid microchipping without sedation due to the needle size. If clinic has small size in stock. Kittens will be chipped.

9. Flea, Tick & Parasite Prevention: Each kitten is treated with Revolution Plus, which protects against a range of parasites including fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, and heartworm disease. Given our rural setting, we also recommend Revolution Plus and Seresto collars for continued protection.

10. Ear Care: Curled-ear kittens require ear cleanings twice a week. We handle this care every Tuesday and Thursday.

11. Grooming: Kittens with medium to long hair are gradually introduced to grooming with water baths and regular brushing to help them adjust.

Additionally, all kittens are weighed daily until they reach 8 weeks of age, and then weekly (or more often if needed) to ensure consistent growth and health tracking.

These procedures ensure that our kittens receive comprehensive care, and we are always available to discuss any questions or additional needs. Thank you for your interest in our cattery!
