I copyrighted and published this book for my husband Rick in 2012, then published a 2017 update five years later. Now that we are getting old, he feels obligated for us to give one last effort to tell everyone the "SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING" that was made crystal clear to him during his ordeal.
Quiet Angels is NOT a boring fact filled book containing in-depth information about strokes, near death experiences (NDE), or heart attacks. Or anxiety, depression, thoughts of su***de, alcoholism, antidepressants, drug abuse, therapy, rehabilitation, etc... Instead, it is a part comedy, part tragedy, ALL TRUE book told by a man that experienced all of the above!!
PART 1 - Quiet Angels (entertaining) - is an easy to read section of the book that has stories about Rick and his dog Capone.
PART 2 - The Rest of the Story (serious) - after being asked by a by a preacher to be guest speaker at his church Rick chose to have me to write this short, easy-to-read book instead do to his trouble maintaining a train of thought and rambling while trying to remember what he was talking about. It contains TRUE stories about him, his brain injury / stroke, his near death experience (NDE), the Angel (his dog) that literally saved his life and the MOST IMPORTANT THING that he learned learned along the road to recovery.

This story is about a man and his dog - and so much more!!! It brought tears of laughter, tears of sadness, and has given me a new-found hope for my life!!
UNBELIEVABLY TOUCHING STORY! - March 3, 2012
I have known Rick & Evelyn for many years, and count them among my closest friends. Having said that, I read their book with an open mind. Some of their story I am well familiar with but I learned many things about them, their love for not only their daughters and dogs but for each other, and their faith. I found myself chuckling as I was reading (sometimes outright laughing), brought to verge of tears, and then humbled by their struggle and Rick's faith. It has made me do some self-reflecting as I consider the rest of my life. I love Rick & Evelyn dearly and I love this book - I think anyone who has the great opportunity to read it will love it as well. Thanks for sharing a private part of your lives with us.
Quiet Angels the NDE - March 20, 2013
I have long been fascinated with reading and hearing about other peoples NDE, there are both positive and negative experiences, and I enjoy sharing these stories with those that seem to have such a fear of death. one common thread is for those that have had this experience, their lives are always changed forever, and mostly for the good. this was not a heavy duty theology read, but one that brings peace and comfort.

Candid true story of a family that suffered the husband's stroke and it's aftermath. It shares his NDE and warm stories of the people and special dogs that helped him.

I liked this book. Simple story of a man, his love for his dogs, a glimpse into Heaven, and a renewal of faith. Nice, easy read. I recommend it.

Beautiful story of a man and his family facing a terrible medical crisis and surviving it against all odds. I highly recommend this book, especially if you are an animal lover like me.
