Wednesday wisdom!!!! ๐๐ป
A little follow up to yesterdayโs post regarding toxic foods. ๐คขโ ๏ธ๐ฅ
This is the number to the animal poison control hotline. I personally keep this on my refrigerator. There is a fee to consult with them but they are an excellent resource when your pet (any kind) may have eaten or come in contact with something toxic. ๐จโ๏ธ
When you call your vet they will very often call this line. Itโs much faster than trying to frantically search the internet or veterinary books for answers. Sometimes every passing minute counts and this is what these people are here for. ๐๐ป 24-7 including holidays! Itโs a wonderful service provided by caring animal people. ๐พโค๏ธ
Itโs a number we never want to have to call but itโs one that I always have at the ready. ๐
If you ever find yourself needing to call them try to have as much information gathered as you can.
What did they eat or come in contact with?
How much quantity in ounces or grams or how many pills, batteries, chocolatesโฆ.
What strength of medication or how dark was the chocolate? What kind of chemical?
Mouse poison? What kind and how much? Have the package to read from if possible!!!
How much does your pet weigh and do they take any medications?
You get the picture. The more information you can give when you call the faster you can get answers as to what, if anything, needs to be done to help your beloved pet.
