Foster kitten update
It’s been hectic, but I wanted to share an update on Momma Samoa and her island boys. Plus, we got a bonus foster kitten to add to the group last Thursday💖.
We do still have the “big kids” - Jade, Gypsy and Creed in our main foster room. For those keeping score at home, that’s 8 fosters 😮. We love having them, but it is a lot of scooping of litter boxes 😆.
The big kids are all available now for adoption. If you are interested in meeting them, just contact the shelter at 636-255-6400 to set up a time.
Once the kittens are weaned (should be in the next few weeks) Momma Samoa will be looking for her forever home. The island boys and Genesis will probably be ready for adoption mid January.
All are fostered for Saint Charles City Animal Shelter. Their adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, update on vaccinations, microchip, tested for Feline Luekemia and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus).

We have our first solid food eater! Once he got a taste of Samoa’s breakfast he was all in 😄.
Morning fun
Happy Thanksgiving from Momma Samoa and her babies. I got up early to spend some time with them and the babies were being so funny. They are starting to play and explore. And you can see Samoa enjoying her breakfast. I am just so thankful this little family is here with us. 💕
(Pardon the mess in their kennel. Since it’s first thing in the morning I haven’t tidied up yet.)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Samoa has been so brave and trusting with me. Today I took the chance and gave her a few head scratches. She loved it! I am so thankful she is here with us and I can help support her while she raises her babies. I have promised her she will never again go hungry, be cold or struggle on her own. Earning her trust just means so much ☺️.

Samoa and her babies
Momma Samoa and baby update. The babies are thriving now that they have their mom. I have spent lots of time sitting with them and can see them thriving. I shot this video today, which shows them climbing around and you can see their big milk bellies ☺️.
I also have been working to build trust with Samoa. She has let me give rub a finger on her front paw, sniffed my hand and even let me reposition one of the kittens so they could get to her belly! I have heard only purrs and those start as soon as I go in the room with her. 🥰
I am optimistic that we will become friends and be able to work together to raise her babies. These little ones are already working to stand on shaky legs and soon will be mobile!
Momma & her kittens
This is momma this morning. (If you turn up the volume you can hear momma purring!) After I stopped the video momma rolled on her side and all the babies latched. Momma even closed her eyes before I left, as she was so relaxed 💖.We also came up with names for this little family. Momma is Samoa and the kittens are Fiji, Tahiti and Bali. Going into these cold and dreary months we thought we all could use some tropical island vibes 🌴.
Gypsy, Jade & Creed
Gypsy, Jade and Creed are just the sweetest, as you can see in this video 💖. They will all be at the shelter tomorrow, Saturday 11/9, from 10 am till 3 pm. They are all hoping to finally find their forever families 🤞.
All are up to date on their shots, Feluk/FIV negative and microchipped. Creed is neutered and the girl’s spay surgery is included with the adoption fee.
Gypsy & Creed
Gypsy and Creed are both independent kittens, but they also love a little cuddle time 💕. You can also hear how Creed likes to chat with his humans.
Gypsy and Creed are both still available for adoption through the City of St. Charles Animal Shelter. You can contact the shelter for more information and to set up a meet & greet. They will also be at the shelter on Saturday from 10 am - 3 pm for walk in visitors to meet.
Both these kittens would love to find their forever homes! (They do not have to be adopted together.)
Here is a short video of Amelia playing with a new to her toy. You can see her stubby tail, which is healing nicely.
This morning I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to rescue this sweet kitten. I was on the highway and saw this tiny thing walking toward the driving lanes! Thankfully traffic was light and I was able to pull over fairly quick. I made my way back toward the kitten, going slow in fear she would run onto the roadway. This poor girl was scavenging trash when I came up to her. I took a deep breath and made a quick grab. She have a little fuss, but settled quickly when I tucked her into my hoodie. (There was no sign of any other kittens or a momma cat, but there was a lot of thick brush in the area.)Once home, I grabbed a carrier to settle her in. She was purring already 🥰. She is really thin, so I warmed some canned food right away. I’ve already reached out to the shelter and once this kitty has had a few days to settle in I’ll take her in for her first vaccinations. Her eyes have already changed color and she has her canine teeth, so she is probably about 7 weeks old. Hopefully after a quarantine period we can find her some kitten friends, then get her ready for adoption. No more foraging along side the highway for this sweetie.
