We are urgently seeking a new guardian home for our handsome boy Emeric. He is fully kennel, potty, leash trained and a very sweet boy! Great with other dogs (but no intact males), cats and children. Would prefer a home with older children though if possible. He will be placed in guardianship at no cost! Guardian home must be within 4 hours of Alton IL OR Bay Shore, NY!

Ok ... I hate making these posts, but it needs to be said over and over to keep people safe! If you get a comment or message on this page that is NOT Show Me Great Danes or my secondary page SMGD Midwest Great Dane Breeder , then it is NOT ME!! I have deleted about 100 of these comments and blocked about 20 of these profiles in the last 2 days alone. These pages/groups/profiles are SCAMS!!!! Please be smart. Do not send anyone personal info or money to anyone online for a puppy unless you have seen the puppy on video chat, or if they can send updated photos at request, and talk to these people over the phone! The scammers are bad guys please be alert. And remember, if the price is too good to be true IT IS! Please read my posts pinned to the top of my page for lots of ways to identify a scammer!!

And then there was 1 .. this pretty lady is wondering why she doesn't have a family of her own yet. She is 9 week old, 100% European, up to date on vetting, and very smart. She may be small, but she in apunky and so so sweet! She has also been greatly reduced!

🎬 “The Friend” Movie was released this weekend, and while I love seeing this breed that we all love get attention, I am also concerned. 🫣

‼️We’ve seen this cycle too many times. People fall in love with the idea of a Dane, but not the reality.

Why Do People Surrender/rehome Great Danes?

🚫 “I didn’t know they got this big!” (They can reach 150-200 lbs!)
🚫 “They eat too much!” (Be ready for a BIG food bill.)
🚫 “Vet bills are expensive!” (Danes are prone to bloat, joint issues, and heart disease.)
🚫 “I don’t have enough space.” (Even couch potatoes need room to stretch out.)
🚫 “I don’t have time for training.” (A poorly trained 150-lb dog = disaster.)
🚫 “They’re too needy!” (Danes are Velcro dogs and hate being alone.)
🚫 “We had a baby/moved/got divorced.” (Dogs are forever, not just when it’s convenient 🙄.)

Thinking About Getting a Dane? Do This First:

✔️ Research the breed thoroughly before making a decision.
✔️ Be financially prepared—Danes are expensive to care for.
✔️ Commit to training and socialization—a well-behaved Dane is a happy Dane.
✔️ Understand their medical risks—bloat, joint issues, and heart problems are common.
✔️ Have the space and time to give them the life they deserve.

Every time a blockbuster comes out with a special dog breed, the world goes crazy and people flood to purchase/adopt said breed. Please think long and hard before making the decision to get a dane. While they are wonderful dogs, they ARE NOT for everyone! Do your research!!
