Coco is officially 12 pounds!! We are so proud of this boy for having the will to live. He is getting so much love and care as well. We just have one more round of treatment in the form of a blood recheck to make sure he’s all good to go forward! I can’t thank all of you enough for donating and sharing. If you would share his update once more, I would greatly appreciate it!!
COCO’S STORY:
For those who don’t know the story, I have condensed the previously long post into this short summary:
Coco, estimated to be between 1-2 years old, was found in the alley of a business, emaciated, full of ticks, and begging for food in a not-so-nice area where the finder did not feel he was safe. She contacted a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) colony caregiver, who then contacted me, and we got him on a road to healing. She did the lengthy and creepy duty of picking the ticks off him, cleaning him up, and giving him a good meal and dry bed. I took him to get fixed/vaccinated/tested, via St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach and Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic , and he was dewormed and treated for any further fleas/ticks as well. Then…he crashed quickly and suddenly.😳 Coco stopped eating and drinking almost to the point of potential organ failure, he was lethargic, and we thought we were going to lose him. We immediately got him an urgent care appointment and reached out to the cat care community for financial support, because we weren’t sure what extensive treatment he would need. Thankfully, he only needed some bloodwork, x-rays, and antibiotics. There was a fear of tick-borne illness, but none of those types of symptoms manifested, although we keep a close eye on him.
We are on the home stretch of his treatment, and he’s ready to live his best life! Thank you all! It takes a village, right?!!
