Riverview Exotics is now Riverview Exotics LLC!

I want to thank everyone that has enabled me to grow in this hobby. I did not expect to do so well in the Expo scene when I started this.

I have big plans in the near and distant future. I'm so exited for the growth of this buisiness and the hobby.

Thank you so much

Noah

Glass tops and ventilation quick talk.

I always recommend to replace screen tops with glass tops in order to keep the humidity in your set ups. The controversy when you research this topic is whether or not to provide top ventilation at all.

So I did some experimentation on this. I have noticed that small ventilation in the front of your glass tops (2 inches of vent) is ideal for viewing pleasure and to maintain the humidity in most dart frog tanks. If you put the small gap in the back of the enclosure the front will still fog up and hinder viewing but does provide good airflow.

A larger vent (about 1/3 of the top as in the first picture) works well to not have much standing water on your leaf litter, which is ideal for phylobates to avoid foot rot issues.

Completely sealed tops do not seem to be ideal. You will see some dart frogs acting a bit erratic like climbing into the corners of the tank and staying there all day. As well as extream algae growth due to standing water on all glass sides which majorly limits viewing your frogs.

It's important to note that these tests were done in the short term so I have no data on respiratory issues due to prolonged exposure of no ventilation. But I have read some posts on Dendroboard about that topic.

To conclude, in my opinion, the best way to set up the top ventilation for your dart frog tanks is a small vent of around 2 in above your doors as seen in the second picture of this post. Additional pictures to show other setups are in the comments.

The Ranitomeya benedicta have been added into their permanent home. I love the way this enclosure turned out. I expect this move to disrupt their breeding for a little while but the upgrade was needed.

Also for those of you that have asked about their babies, they will be available by the summer. I hold onto Ranitomeya a bit longer than tincs and auratus due to their size and often a reliance on springtails as feeders in the first few months out of water.

I also wanted to thank everyone for my first year vending. I'm seeing great strides towards furthering this buisiness. Many expansions are planned for the next few years and it is all thanks to your support. Thank you so much for such an exiting and fruitful 2023!

Hardscape is done and bromeliads are mounted, when they take root I will remove the twine binding them. I'm loving the look so far! Hopefully my Ranitomeya benedicta will appreciate it as well.

I was a bit late setting up the permanent enclosure for my Ranitomeya benedicta "shucushuyacu" trio. They started breeding in their grow out! The second picture is the hardscape I made for them a month ago. This was by far my most expensive custom background but it looks amazing. I will post an update when I get it planted and cycled for a couple weeks.

**Ranitomeya benedicta "shucushuyacu" won't be available for some time. Being a thumbnail dart frog I avoid relocating them until they are about 4 months out of water unlike my normal 2 month minimum. So mid summer of next year expect them on the table!

This group is one of my newest acquisitions. Dendrobates tinctorius "Regina"

Assuming that I get a pair of them, I'm a couple months off from sexing them reliably, I should have them available late summer of 2024

Thank you to everyone that came out to the Show me reptile show yesterday and supported Riverview Exotics I had a blast talking to everyone!

I had quite a few people ask me about glass frogs at the show. This is something I definitely have space for a few projects. Is that something you guys would like to see on my tables???

10/21/2023

Hey everyone I'm sorry for the radio silence this month, October is crazy busy for my day job. Despite that I will be at the Show me reptile show tomorrow, come stop by and say hi!

***Also some big updates are comming soon in regards to what animals I work with! (Don't worry, it's all dart frogs still)

09/18/2023

So it looks like the St. Louis reptile show will be canceled on October 1st. Not to worry that just means I will have more in stock for the Show Me Reptile Show on October 22nd!

Dendrobates tinctorius "Patricia"
These beautiful tincs are one of the many localities found in Brazil and Surinam. My female also happens to be the largest dart frog of all my breeders. A strange thing with these guys, in my experience, seem to not produce as often as my other tinctorius localities but when they do I get up to 15 eggs in a single clutch!

Since this is a new pair for me, I will not have any of these guys at the Show Me show on the 10th. I do plan to have some available at the December show. Stay tuned!

Dendrobates tinctorius ‘Oyapock’ These darts are one of our newer species. The native range of these guys are the Oyapock river region of French Guiana where they get their name. This locality is a dwarf tinctorius with females only reaching around 1.75 inches. My primary pair will be receiving a habitat redesign in the next couple months, stay tuned!

Also... some babies from the beautiful girl pictured will be on the table September 10th!

We just acquired a higher quality camera so that we can show off some of our projects. Today we are excited to show you our favorite and most popular species: Dendrobates auratus "Costa Rican green and black."

These guys have shown to us that they are much more outgoing than other auratus localities which makes them a great starter frog. We nearly sold out at the last show we had vended but the breeders have been working hard to replenish those numbers, they will be in stock at the Show Me show on September 10th.

It will take us a while to establish and fill all these new set ups but expansions are in the works!

Good news! After a couple days of talking with Show Me representatives we have been put on the list for the September 10th and October 22nd Show Me shows in Bridgeton.
