Spay and Neuter to save lives!

🐾 You can't tell but 3 of these dogs in this photo are heartworm positive! 😭

Our rescue has been helping a gentleman since last summer trying to secure rescue and provide care for 20 dogs on the condemned property he is living at with all the dogs. We paid to get all the females fixed over the summer to prevent further litters, and have sent a ton of dog food and preventative.

We have put out pleas asking other rescues to tag and help with little luck. Our friends at 4 Paws 4 Rescue were kind enough to take in 2 dogs that we received most recently from the owner.

We have taken 10 dogs now from the property and successfully adopted 2 (one that was also HW +) We have 6 more currently in our care with 3 being heartworm positive!

The average cost for all vetting for a HW + dog including spay/neuter and shots is around $1000 and we are going on 4 now from this group. This won't stop us from taking more but we will need to fundraise!

🐾So this is little Denver AKA Denny. He’s the new foster!! He’s related to the last two we had (Sheba and Pearl)This little guy is sweetest thing you could ever meet. He’s likely around 2-3 years old maybe 25 lbs. He’s good with other dogs and seemed ok around kids. He’s crate trained and potty trained.🐾

Denny is literally the definition of man’s best friend!

Freezing temps are coming, please prepare now, don't wait until the last minute! Animals will freeze to death in these temperatures if they cannot get adequate shelter!

Bring your animals inside, don't leave your dogs out for too long, (yes, we know some breeds like to be outside and are better built for it), and short walks (paws can get frostbite).

If you take care of feral cats, make sure they have shelter. Styrofoam coolers with straw (not hay) to help keep them warm. If you need a cooler or need more tips on building one yourself, please check out the STLFCO Community Cat Winter Shelter and TNR Group. And if they're not fixed, make a plan to get them fixed so more don't have to suffer living outside.

This sweet, fun and loving little explorer is 6 months old and looking for her forever home. She loves playing with the other kitties at her fosters home, and yep - you guessed it, she loves going outside.

Autumn's foster caught her trying to bolt outside a couple times to go on adventures so she's been working with her on harness training. She does very well outside with her harness on a leash and just wants to get out for some fresh air and grass every now and again - who can blame a gal?

Autumn is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated - she's perfect and ready for her home!

Remember to keep them safe this holiday...

*check doors and gates especially with company coming over
*if you feed table scraps make sure they are safe - some items to avoid include onions, garlic, chocolate, grapes, raisins, xylitol, bones; play it safe and don't feed anything to your pets if you don't know the ingredients
*give your pet a "safe place" to escape if you are having company
*supervise your pets if you are cooking on the stove or using the oven, some even like to sneak in a refrigerator
*get rid of the tinsel, it can cause internal blockages!

We will receive many calls for missing/lost pets after the holidays that could be prevented. Some will find their way home safely and many others will not.

Many vets will get emergency calls from something their pet ate or an injury during all the hustle and bustle of the year.
