Dear Fairgate Farm Community,
As the 2024 growing season comes to an end, we reflect on how far we've come, and more importantly, how far we can go. What started as a few garden plots back in 2011, has turned into the thriving community resource it is today. People from our neighborhood here on the West Side and beyond come to the Farm for nourishing food, hands-on learning experiences, and building community connection.
Though the Farm looks quiet during these cold winter days, I assure you behind the scenes we’re already hard at work in preparation for the 2025 season. We’re planning great new workshops and events to learn and connect with others. We’re enhancing volunteer opportunities and further developing the farm stand experience. Perhaps most importantly, we’re working diligently to improve farm production so that we can provide even more people with the high quality, nutrient-rich food you’ve come to love and expect. We’re also thrilled to say we will be taking the next step in our mission to increase accessibility to healthy food this spring as we launch our Healthy Food, Healthy Mind Outlet, a sidewalk-accessible pantry providing free food and books to those in need, even when the Farm is closed.
We have been able to make a difference for so many people over the years because of our amazing volunteers, partner organizations, and those who support our work through donations. For those of you just getting to know us, I invite you to spend some time next season walking the Farm, attending a class, or sourcing some fresh veggies for your dinner. To our regular volunteers, patrons, and supporters, I thank you, and ask you to please continue to do what you can to “help us grow”, so that we can keep nourishing the bodies and minds of the Stamford community for years to come.
We wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season, offer you our sincerest thanks for being part of the Farm community, and look forward to our best year yet in 2025!
With Gratitude,
Farmer Pete and the Team at Fairgate
