π Bumblebee babies turned 2 weeks old yesterday and weighed an average of 7.6. This chunky monkey weighed 8oz. Not bad for being a summer litter. π«
Rainy Days Bella Marie x 4K's Cinder
25% Rex, 25% NZ, 50% Satin.
Reza project.
"How do you catch her?"
Well, she's a fatty and very food motivated... π« Even though she's literally hopping through salad...
Shiny day old rabbit kits.
Apparently Bella Marie carries Satin! I had forgotten that was a possibility until I saw these babies shimmering in the box. β¨
50% Satin, 25% New Zealand and 25% Rex.

π Congratulations Bella Marie!
Bella pulled fur all night and it shows, lol, talk about an overachiever! She kindled 9 perfect little kits on the morning of day 33. It looks like 4 are harlequinized though she's minimally marked so there may be another one or two in there.
Mixed bag of normal coated and satinized kits carrying rex.
50%Satin (4K's Cinder), 25% NZ (Anchor's Aweigh Hot Tamale) and 25% Rex (Jax's Coin Toss).
Bella Marie is the π Bathtub Bunny I kept that was weaned super early (15 days?) due to health issues with the dam.
I don't know why Facebook keeps sharing my videos without context, but this is part of a larger post.
This video shows how to properly pose and evaluate a commercial typed rabbit. As you can see the rabbit is calm and used to being handled and easily goes into this shape without stress. This is a baseline that allows us to judge body type, loin depth, loin width, peak placement, shoulder depth, shoulder width and fullness to the table. When released she doesn't try to escape, or move much for that manner, just looking around like, "Hey, time for my treat right? Come on peasant, where's the num-nums?"
This is an important baseline to evaluate on for show and function. Additional educational diagrams in comments.

Oh the judges are going to have fun with this one. π Fuego is a bit of a water hydrant... π¦

5 month old red Satin buck.
Redmond kindled 3 BIG red kits.
She's not one of my breeders anymore but apparently she didn't get that memo when she let Oaks out a month ago. I came into the rabbit area one evening to find them having quite a "nice" time together.
So 3 is just fine, lol. Would have been a great litter to foster into but none of my other does felt like lifting. The next rabbit I have due to pop is Cherryaki on the 26th. π«
Monster Mash's mini monsters! 3 weeks old tomorrow π₯° (NZR)
(Ignore the pale white zombie hand π« )
Pelehonuamia kindled yesterday and had 10 lovely little tots! A couple of Reza bunnos in the mix, here's one of them.
Everyone's favorite lady, miss Cherryaki. π
Reza; Satinized Rex coated rabbit.
Her final adult weight is 10lb and she should have kits on my birthday next month. π€
π Bathtub Bunnies π
24 days old and the Rex x NZ tricolor charlies and brindle kits are ready to transition outside, they have a good weight, are eating pellets and hay very well. The Satin kits however I'm still on the fence about, they're just not doing GREAT like the others, and with them side by side the contrast is very noticeable.
I may just transition the mixes outside during the day and then bring them back in at night with the Satins.
Not sure yet, but it's not happening today.
The charlies are really the only kits partaking in the formula, not that they need it, lol. There's one Satin kit that is too but it's not making any sort of difference that I can tell.
We'll see. Please enjoy this cute video of slurping babies.

π Bathtub Bunnies π
Currently 20 days old
Emergency ultra-early weaning from 16 days old.
They're not going to be in this bathtub for much more than a couple of days at this rate π
Tiny babies on springs! Going to have to fix them up a better spot soon since I'm not quite ready to put them outdoors yet.
Granted, in about 3-4 more days we should have a week of about 60Β°F so that would be the perfect temp to transition them back out. I'm just a nervous hen y'all! π«

They're all energetic little things, occasionally 2 of them may suddenly enjoy some of the formula (Fox Valley cottontail formula) and it's not been the same two. They've got nice solid hay filled poops and are definitely eating pellets, hay and drinking the water.
The Satins do feel a little lighter than the NZ/Rex kits, so I'm keeping a closer eye on them. They still have a ton of energy so I'm not terribly worried yet. Just observing.
Shelving kit system that works well for us when there's a problem and I feel I need to bring kits inside.

In this case Coin Toss isn't feeling well (bloat?!?) and I'm trying to foster her older kits in the middle into the 2 week younger kits of Monster Mash and Ruby Rose. π΅βπ« So to do this I am taking all the kits away from the dams, then at feeding time I'm giving them back their kits for momma-milk-bar access for a minute before trying to sneak a couple of older kits in on the side.
This has worked well in the past with my mutts but Monster (pure NZ) and Ruby (pure Satin) aren't having it. Uppity high class ladies.... "Imposters in the nest!!"
So, I'm going to have them sleep with the smaller kits overnight so by breakfast they should smell like them and it may go smoother tomorrow. π€ I have to shelve them also so I can ensure the younger kits definitely get milk before I add the older, larger kits.
Coin Toss is napping in the spare bath with her babies and may still be feeding them some, but I'm worried.
βοΈπ§TLDR: $1.25 Dollar Tree bowls during the winter. See vid.
We use both bottles and bowls at the same time in our rabbitry for most seasons because they drink more water from a bowl but the bottle backup is great to have in case a bowl gets dumped/soiled/runs dry. Plus it's helpful in case I have an overnight trip I don't have to worry about their waters.
However bowls are pretty crucial when we get below freezing in the winter. Instead of bringing them into the house to thaw out I can just gently press on the back and the ice just pops out! I know I've shared this a few years ago but again I find myself super pleased with these cheap things. I still have quite a few old ones but they do break if you step on them π
#Whoops.
$1.25 at Dollar Tree, and they fit into themselves for storage when you're done with them. I prefer other bowls for warm weather because they can hold more but these are great for this specific icy niche. βοΈ
Warm cozy babies and cold chapped fingers π
Mom hopped in immediately after to feed, lol. "See what a great job I'm doing???"
