With the new hands free during driving law I will be making an adjustment to how I respond to messages. Typically I have 20 to 25 different people texting me daily ranging from advice to needing emergency call to wanting to schedule an appointment. Almost everyday I am already booked for an 8 to 9 hour day on the road in different areas, with very little time in between. If I add an urgent call or two (which happens almost daily) and it's off route, it can easily make my day 12 hours on the road. If it is not urgent, I will not be responding to texts or phone calls for several days until I can book a time slot for office work. If you need an urgent/emergent call I will respond ASAP. If you are asking for advice on something you are treating yourself and you feel it cannot wait, I may charge a consultation fee if I need to stop along my routes to respond to you. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Did you know that as of June 2023 a new law will be passing that requires a Veterinary Client Patient Relationship and a prescription to buy most over the counter antibiotics???

If you did and already have an established Veterinarian that you use on a yearly basis, great! You should be all set. If you have always done your own veterinary work or have had no reason to use a veterinarian, BUT you do use the medicine over the counter that will become prescription, PLEASE contact a local veterinarian sooner rather than later to establish. We are required by law to be on your farm and establish a VCPR before we can script meds for you to use/have on hand.

PLEASE, do not wait until you absolutely need medicine ASAP. This will create undue stress on yourself, your animal in need, and the veterinarian working to try and fit everything in. Call ahead and get a new client establish appointment, most of us have routes with reduced cost fees to stop and meet you. Have a list of the common medicines you use and what you treat with them (who knows, we might have an idea of a better protocol), let us know how often you need these meds so we can fill scripts ahead, and make sure we are all following strict guidelines for withdrawals.

How do I find a vet when I've never needed/used one? Check out facebook posts/groups in your area, ask at the local feed mill, ask your local extension agent, or even find out via the grapevine who goes to the local farms.

This new rule/regulation should not be that bad if we all plan ahead.
