Holiday decorations can be so tempting for curious pups! Let’s work on teaching them to stay calm and leave them alone. Try this:

1️⃣ Set up a training session near the tree or decorations.
2️⃣ Reward calm behavior (like sitting or lying down) with treats and praise.
3️⃣ Practice “leave it” by gently redirecting their attention away from tempting items.

With patience and positivity, your dog will learn to navigate the holiday wonderland safely!

Snap a pic of your dog practicing calm behavior and share it with us! We can’t wait to see your holiday training success. 🎅🐾

The holidays can be overstimulating for our furry friends. Today is a great day to reset and help your dog feel calm and relaxed. Here are three simple tips to get back on track:

1️⃣ Go for a long walk – Burn off that holiday energy with a refreshing outdoor adventure.
2️⃣ Stick to routines – Bring back mealtimes, potty breaks, and training schedules to give your dog structure.
3️⃣ Provide mental stimulation – Try a puzzle toy or a simple game like hide-and-seek to engage their brain.

What’s your dog’s favorite way to unwind after a busy day? Share your tips below! 👇🐶

🎄

The holiday season can be overwhelming for our furry friends with all the decorations, guests, and tasty (but not dog-safe!) treats around. Here’s a holiday training tip:

"Reward calm behavior during the hustle and bustle!" 🎅✨

If your dog remains relaxed while guests arrive, settles near the tree, or resists begging at the dinner table, reward them with a treat, praise, or a quiet moment with their favorite toy. Reinforcing calmness helps them feel confident and teaches them how to handle holiday excitement.

Pro tip: Create a cozy "safe zone" where your pup can retreat if things get too busy. Add a comfy bed, their favorite chew toy, and lots of love!

Wishing you and your furry family a pawsitively wonderful holiday season! 🐶❤️

WINTER SOLSTICE ❄️

Winter doesn’t have to mean hibernation for your dog! With a little prep, you can enjoy the chilly season together while keeping them warm, safe, and entertained.

🐶 3 Tips to Keep Your Dog Winter-Ready:
1. Layer Up for the Cold 🧥
Not all dogs are built for freezing temps!

Short-haired breeds? A cozy coat or sweater is essential.
Long-haired breeds? Watch for snow and ice clumps in their fur—especially around their paws and belly.

2. Safe & Fun Winter Activities ⛄

Snow Walks: Keep walks short on freezing days and stick to pet-friendly trails.
Indoor Play: Puzzle toys, tug-of-war, and indoor training sessions are perfect for burning off energy.
Snow Sniffari: Let your dog explore new scents in the snow—it’s a great mental workout!

3. Protect Those Paws 🐾
Cold weather, ice, and salt can be rough on paws.

Use paw balm or booties to prevent cracking and irritation.
After walks, rinse and dry paws to remove salt and debris.

✨ Bonus Tip: Take a Winter-Ready Dog Photo! 📸
Show off your pup’s cutest cold-weather look and tag us! We'd love to see them ready to conquer the snow. ❄️🐕

How are you keeping your dog warm and happy this winter? Let us know in the comments! 👇

Training Tip Tuesday: Winter Walking Edition! ❄️

Winter walks can be fun and refreshing, but they come with unique challenges. Here are some tips to keep you and your pup safe and happy on those snowy strolls:

1️⃣ Watch for Ice! - Slippery surfaces can be dangerous for both you and your dog. Walk slowly and use traction tools like winter boots for you and protective paw gear for your pup.

2️⃣ Protect the Paws 🐾 - Salt and de-icing chemicals can irritate your dog’s paws. Use dog-safe booties or apply paw balm before walks to protect those precious feet. Always wipe paws off afterward!

3️⃣ Keep it Short - Cold temperatures can cause discomfort, especially for short-haired or smaller dogs. Limit the time outside and watch for signs of shivering or discomfort.

4️⃣ Leash Control is Key 🚶‍♂️ - Snowbanks and low visibility mean dogs can easily stray or run into unsafe areas. Work on leash etiquette to keep your pup close and focused on you, even in distractions like snow piles!

5️⃣ Reflective Gear = Safety 🌟 - Shorter days mean darker walks. Reflective leashes, harnesses, or jackets will make you and your pup more visible to others.

Need help with leash manners or winter walking skills? We’ve got you covered!

📣 Reminder: We’re fully booked for 2024 but are now scheduling into January. Lock in 2024 rates by booking before January 1st!

Stay safe, stay cozy, and happy winter walking! 🐶❄️

12/13/2024

While today celebrates the beauty and strength of horses, it’s also the perfect time to talk about safely introducing your dog to horses—or any large animal! 🐕🐴 Whether you're visiting a farm, riding stable, or simply encountering a horse on a trail, here are some essential tips to ensure a safe and positive experience for both your dog and the larger animal.

🐾 3 Tips for Safely Introducing Dogs to Horses (or Other Large Animals):

1. Start with a Calm Introduction 🧘

Keep Your Dog Leashed: Control is key when introducing a dog to a large animal. Use a sturdy leash and harness.
Observe from a Distance: Allow your dog to see and smell the horse from afar before moving closer. Gradually close the distance once both animals are calm.

2. Focus on Body Language 👀

Watch Your Dog: Look for signs of stress like barking, whining, or raised hackles.
Watch the Horse: Horses may show discomfort by pinning their ears back, swishing their tail, or stepping away. If either animal shows signs of anxiety, give them space.

3. Reward Calm Behavior 🐶🎉

Use positive reinforcement to reward your dog for calm and quiet behavior. Bring treats and offer praise when your dog remains relaxed and focused.
Gradually increase exposure over multiple encounters to build confidence and familiarity.

Introducing dogs to large animals can be a fun and enriching experience, but it requires patience, control, and lots of positive reinforcement. With the right approach, your dog can confidently navigate new environments and experiences!
