DogZone, LLC owned and operated by Melanie Frye, was established with the mission of helping people understand and communicate with their dogs in a clear and consistent way. For those of you that don't know me, I am a CERTIFIED Dog Trainer, K9 Behavioral specialist graduating from Triple Crown Dog Academy where I learned from the very best Jessy Gabriel and Rob Dunn. Jessy has trained and competed

with her own dogs in AKC Obedience, Agility, Hunt Tests, Search & Rescue and Schutzhund/IPO – including numerous national events and representing the United States in multiple international competitions. Rob actively trains and participates with his own dogs in Schutzhund, serving as Regional Training Director for the South Central Region of the United Schutzhund Clubs of America. Triple Crown prepared us to work with a variety of dog temperament's utilizing numerous training techniques. I have been in the dog training/boarding/daycare career for 8 years. I have also completed , Advanced Dog Socialization courses and many seminars and continue to grow my education daily. I believe, each and every dog I work with teaches me something new, so I continue to grow daily. I am a trainer of many tools, and believe in choosing the right tool for the particular dog and handler. I'm also a proud owner/handler of 3 dogs, Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd, and my All American Mutt. I enjoy competing in Herding, agility, fly ball ,barn hunt, IPO ,dock diving, disc and much more. I like to make my training programs a fun positive experience. Melanie offers:

Attention:
Kennel Cough alert , please ALWAYS inform us if your dog is sick, if your dog is showing any symptoms or acting a little different, Please do not bring them to daycare or boarding. WE SANITIZE EVERY NIGHT, but just like human schools illnesses, can be passed on to one another, kennel cough can be passed on also dog to dog. This does not mean your dog will get kennel cough but let's be proactive to ensure everyone stays healthy ♡

We require all dogs to have the Bordetella vaccine but it only helps REDUCE the risk of dogs catching this illness - it does not always prevent it. The bordetella vaccine works in a similar way to the flu vaccine, it covers certain strands. Unfortunately the dogs are contagious before they are even symptomatic, so it is impossible to completely stop the spread, no matter how careful we all are. Dogs can get kennel cough wherever they are in close contact with other dogs - dog parks, daycares, kennels, grooming facilities, even the outside air if your neighbor dog has it. etc. etc.

If your dog is showing the following symptoms they should stay home for a least a week after all the symptoms have subsided:
- a persistent, hacking cough⭐
- sneezing⭐
- runny nose
- eye discharge
- fever⭐

They may not have all of the symptoms and in mild cases the dogs are still happy and energetic. Most dogs recover with out any treatment but medications may help speed the recovery or alleviate their symptoms so BE SURE TO TALK TO YOUR VET if you suspect your dog has kennel cough.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. No need to panic as it is just a cold however young puppies and older dogs have a higher chances of getting the virus or dogs with weaker immune sytems. You are more the welcome to still bring your dogs here but it is a airborne virus so their is a chance your dog can get the "cold" regardless if they have had the bordetella shot or not.
