Our retired dam Emma Mae is doing amazing since being fixed it's been a month today since she got spayed and tomorrow will be 2 weeks since returning to the farm. She is enjoying life and being back with the other dogs. She has adopted Millie our almost 9 month old prospect pup and apparently puts Dixie our upcoming dam in her place when she plays to rough with Millie! ❤️

Emma is recovering well from her surgery. She will soon be back with her pack. She is on a Fenbendazole wormer until tomorrow to ensure she didn't pick anything up that can be given to our other dogs and tomorrow she goes for her yearly booster shots. She was able to have her cone removed but has to stay dry until her 14th day which is Tuesday so for now she gets to wear a shirt when she goes outside. She will be getting a bath in the middle of next week to wash her before she goes. And after that she's good to go, this girl has done so well since coming with us in January, she has gone through a lot and has done amazing. From starting her on diet to get her to a safe weight for surgery, to having surgery. She's the best dog. ❤️

On May 28, 2024 L&S Labs beautiful Emma Mae was officially retired. Emma is what started L&S Labs, and has given us the most beautiful puppies. Emma was the most amazing mama to her babies and is an amazing mama to her human girls. She's the sweetest most loving dog, but she will let her pack know who the alpha of the packed is. She's such an easy going dog and is happiest laying right beside her person. All of L&S Labs dogs are amazing but there will definitely never be another Emma. Now she gets to shine even more in retirement and enjoy her life. And be the most amazing puppy socializer. This sweet girl has so many who adore her and she will never know the love and joy she has brought this family and everyone she has met her. My sweet Emma Mae enjoy you're retirement baby girl, we're so excited for you and can't wait to see you enjoy it! ❤️❤️❤️

Our sweet retired Dam Emma Mae turns 5 tomorrow, we want to wish her a happy birthday. Emma is the sweetest most patient dog I've ever met.

Dixie update:

This isn't the update we ever hope to give. With that being said on Saturday Dixie showed great signs of labor so we notified the vet to make sure they were ready in case of an emergency. Dixie stopped eating, drinking, all she wanted to do was sleep, her temperature dropped and she started shivering, licking and spining in circles all great signs that we would have puppies in the next 12- 24 hours. After 24 hours of her being restless and no puppies, we were a little concerned we took all appropriate steps forward. Sadly Dixie had a phantom pregnancy ( false pregnancy) which is common in unspayed dogs. It's a sad and unfortunate thing, it's completely out of our hands. Phantom pregnancy mimic a normal pregnancy and due to the Prolactin hormone is why we got the positive test. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience of this. This is the first time we have ever experienced something like this. And again we apologize. Sincerely, L&S Labs!

In light of our sweet Emma Mae turing 5 years old on Thursday, I did her birthday photo shoot today. This week is a busy week, but I wanted to make sure I made time for our amazing girl. I will post her with her cake Thursday evening when we get home. But wanted to share this beautiful girls picture so here they are enjoy queen Emma!

Our Dixie girl was wormed with the fenbendazole today. Now we just wait for her and the puppies to be ready to come!

The puppy sanctuary is complete. It has also been completely scrubbed and sanitized. And is ready for whelping and puppy living. Next big project is putting the fence up in the backyard for the puppy run/playground!

Dixie's Pregnancy update:

I'm doing the update today because this weekend we will be hard at work finishing the puppy sanctuary. And sanitizing everything in preparation for this beautiful litter.

Now the update: Dixie will be 8 weeks gestation tomorrow and as of tomorrow just 14 days left until her due date. Dixie is doing great but very uncomfortable and very tired. At 8 weeks the puppies are getting into position in the birth canal. So that's why she is uncomfortable. May 4th starts puppy watch and being completely prepared to go when the phone rings. Here is some 8 weeks gestation facts. Stay tuned and keep an eye on our post and your email if you are on the list for one of these puppies as we are close to the big day!

Please remember Dixie's estimated due date is : 5/11/24. But expected whelping dates are 5/5 through 5/13.

Dixie is 6 weeks today, she has 3 weeks (28 days) left. Jack and Millie can sense the nearing of the pregnancy. We are in the 3rd and final stage of pregnancy. And Dixie is starting to get a little puppy bump 😍

I would also like to answer the most asked question: when is Dixie Due.

Her estimated due date is: May 11th

But her expected dates are anywhere from May 7th - May 13th. This means the 7th is the earliest she can have them safely and the 13th being the latest she could have them safely. So starting May 7th will be the start of puppy watch, so if your on our list for one of these puppies please make sure your watching and following our pages. Thank you!

Dixie's Pregnancy update:

We have had 2 confirmation test one being ultrasound and the other a blood test but with that being said as for the second scan we weren’t able to get an accurate puppy count because she is a big girl and because she freaks out due to being scared ( first time mommy jetters). Because of this we won't be trying again do to putting to much stress on her and the fetuses. Dixie is doing great and doing what a pregnant dog should be doing. Tomorrow she will be entering her 3rd and final stage of pregnancy. We will show each week of pregnancy and what that looks like for her. But other then that going forward there will be no big updates until she starts whelping. Here is to week 6 tomorrow and as of today we only have 29 days to go!

Sorry we haven't been posting updates on Dixie, we are just hard at work preparing for this litter. Ordering and doing inventory of what we have and what we need so when the big day arrives we are on top of everything. We have made some big changes to our puppy system which we are working hard to finish. But Dixie is doing great sleeping a lot, but she is happy, healthy and doing amazing for a first time mama.

We have decided to move sweet Dixie's conformation ultrasound to this Friday 03/29 in the evening, we will do a repeat on the 12th for an estimated amount and to make sure everyone is growing and doing well. Stay tuned for the upcoming updates!

Great news! Dixie and Jack were bred this morning. We will schedule a conformation ultrasound to see if we will be having puppies( ultrasound will be done in the beginning of next month). Stay tuned for the results!
