A family outing… wow what a fab day trail hunting with the !!!
Kizzy & Bug were on top form - bizarrely we had normal Bug back today, polite and mild and happy to potter along, no head down charges off into the great unknown, no fizzing attitude lurking underneath the surface, no tizzlewing bottom bounces or complete disregard for Kizzys attempts at braking, today she was a completely different pony and was perfect from start to finish!! We did lots of jumping (photos on way!!), we’ve got to do a bit of work on Kizzys position as she’s adopted a slight ‘brace yourself for impact’ stance due to the aforementioned head down charging rhinoceros problem that we’ve been encountering in recent weeks, but she was flying and confident so it won’t take much to readjust - a bit of no stirrup work on the lunge etc, which will be fun!!
Speaking however of rhinoceros’ and their penchant for charging, that twinkle in Rosie’s eye means exactly what all those who’ve ever encountered a Shetland before (or for that matter a Rhinoceros-similar creatures, there’s a shared gene pool somewhere along the line I feel…) know it means… that I have a head like a battering ram and that I am not afraid to use it as such… and that I want to boogie with the big boys and nothing ain’t gonna stand in my way… apparently they’re taking Cinders next time (for the simple reason, when asked, that her head is lighter…!!) - rather them than me!!! An Ettie pony is next on my tick list, I just need to get Christmas and a variety of other issues sorted first!!! But then it will be dealt with, mostly because I can’t cope with the “Eney Meeny Miney Moe, which little critter is less likely to break Daddy’s toes” conundrum that I face every time we go out, mostly because the honest answer to that question is either of them if they can just get the right angle, as that is their sole intent most days!!
