A reminder that ANYONE who mentions a recent adoption from the humane society while booking will receive 20% off their first service with us!

Hi friends,
My name is Jamal and I have been waiting for a home for over 800 days. I don’t understand why nobody wants me. I try to give them puppy eyes, and even a little whine to let them know how desperate I am for a home. I have never once gotten adopted in the 2+ years I’ve been waiting.

My friends at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast love me, and I love them too. They fill the pool for me so I can jump in the water and splash around. They also play my FAVORITE game of fetch! I make sure to retrieve the ball and drop it right back at their feet each time, so they don’t need to work too hard.

I had a rough start to life. I wasn’t socialized well as a puppy, and it took me a long time to come out of my shell here at the shelter. I now understand that the people here truly love and care for me.

I know that adopters are always looking for that “perfect” dog, but my life circumstances made me “perfectly imperfect”. Unfortunately, I need to be the only pet in the home as I am not too fond of other animals. I hope this doesn’t change your mind to adopt me. I am trying my absolute best. I promise.

I get so excited when visitors come to the shelter. I think… is this really going to be MY day for a family? But then they leave with another dog and my heart is shattered to pieces. I used to be happy for my dog friends when they got adopted, but now I feel selfish to admit that I am heartbroken it wasn’t me walking out that door.

All I ask is for a home. Will you at least give me a try? Maybe even a temporary foster? You can call my friends at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast in Palm City at 772-223-8822 or email [email protected] if you are interested in meeting me. I’m generously sponsored by Dolly's Dream so my adoption fee is waived and I go home with a bunch of free goodies, too.

I really hope you will give me a chance. 🙏
Love, Jamal

✨For those who haven’t met me I thought I would do a little reintroduction of myself. ✨

My name is Bri and I’m the owner and operator of Life’s A Beach Pet Care. I moved to the area in 2019 from Texas. I’ve been working with animals in the area ever since but Life’s A Beach Pet Care was born in 2021. I’ve been around and caring for animals my whole life. I’ve worked with dogs & cats of all shapes and sizes, farm animals such as goats, cows, and chickens as well as exotic animals such as bearded dragons, leopard geckos, turtles, sugar gliders, rabbits, Guinea pigs, birds and more. My passion is connecting with animals. I provide daycare, drop in visits, overnights in your home, and boarding in my home. I also provide basic training such as leash training, common commands, and manners. I am licensed and insured, Pet CPR certified, and in pursuit of two different canine training certifications.

LAB Pet Care Is also happy to do house check ins for our clients traveling with their pets or who don’t currently have a pet. We provide that extra peace of mind that your home is A okay while you’re away!

PSA: We adopted our dog, Rowdy, from the shelter 5 years ago. He was already an adult dog, so we estimate he is about 11 or 12 years old at this point. I love this dog. He is the sweetest soul and my BFF. For the past week or so he hasn’t been acting like himself. He licked a raw spot on his foot. He was panting constantly. He was pacing. Sunday morning, the pacing and panting got so bad, and I was REALLY nervous that there was something seriously wrong with him. For 45 minutes, he panted like crazy and constantly paced back and forth. He was keeping his tail tucked down all the time. His ears were pinned back. He would not settle down and he wouldn’t eat. We tried everything. I ended up giving him a trazadone that he takes sometimes when he goes to the groomer. It seemed to take a little bit of the edge off, but not much. He still wouldn’t eat and still wouldn’t settle. I took off work on Monday so I could take him to the vet. We did bloodwork and x-rays. Knowing he is a senior dog, I was trying to prepare myself for the worst case scenario. I was glad to see his bloodwork was great except for some elevated liver enzymes. The x-rays showed he was a little backed up but no major issues. He got an anti-nausea injection and some Gabapentin to help with some tenderness in his back and to hopefully help keep him calm. When we got home, he was ok for a little bit, but eventually started pacing and panting again. We walked around the neighborhood for a long time and he used the bathroom a lot. He seemed pretty happy about that and was in good spirits until we got home and he refused to come back in the house. Every time I took him out that evening, he would hunker down like he didn’t want to come back in the house. When my vet called and I gave her the update, she suggested there may be some new electronic device in the house that was emitting a high frequency noise that is hurting his ears. We had just put new smart outlets in the house about a week ago. His pacing and panting were worse when the lamps were on, so I unplugged all the smart outlets. He stopped panting, stopped pacing, and ate his food. His tail was even up and wagging again. When I plugged the smart outlets all back in and asked Alexa to turn on the lamps, he immediately started panting and pacing again. My husband used an app to test the frequency of the smart outlets. It was off the charts. We've left the outlets unplugged for two days and have confirmed that it is definitely the smart outlets that are causing his stress and discomfort. He's back to being a totally normal dog now. I really thought this was the end for Rowdy based on the way he was acting. I am so thankful for Dr. Newell at BoonesCreek AnimalHospital for figuring out this simple solution. If your pets are exhibiting similar symptoms, you may want to consider checking your electronics first. I cannot express how relieved I am that he is ok now. 😭♥️🐶

‼️I know a few clients have reached out regarding the upper respiratory illness that has been in the news. My personal vet has directed me to this video to better understand the current situation. To provide further peace of mind we will be disinfecting several times throughout the working day. We ask that if your pup begins to show any symptoms of upper respiratory virus before or after a booking that you contact us immediately. We thank all of our clients for their patronage and we will keep updating as we know more. ‼️

Remember this holiday season, rawhides are not safe treats for dogs. Many are colored with dangerous dyes and rawhide is not easily digested. They can cause serious blockages, requiring medical intervention.

Please consider buying safer alternatives for pets.

With more than 600 pets waiting to find their fur-ever homes, Miami-Dade County Animal Services is adopting an essential intake only policy where we must prioritize the intake of injured, abused, or neglected pets in urgent need of shelter. This will allow us to ensure can continue to provide the best possible care for all animals.
All other services will remain open.
We urgently need 's residents to adopt and foster today!
.
Tips to help shelter pets:
• Adopt or Foster – the best way to help alleviate crowding in the shelter.
• Think LOST, not STRAY. Many animals never return home because the finder assumes the animal has been abandoned or dumped when the animal has simply gotten out. Most loose dogs are within a mile of their home.
• If you choose to aid a lost pet, we encourage you to walk around the area to locate the owner.
• If you cannot provide temporary housing for the pet, do not remove it from its familiar location.
• Post a photo of the found pet on https://24petconect.com/, Nextdoor and PetcoLoveLost.org
• Volunteer! Volunteers are an essential part of our mission and are always welcome to provide enrichment, walk dogs, and improve the quality of life for shelter pets.
• Join the CLAWS networking group to help promote shelter pets for adoption; email [email protected] for more information.
• You can also help raise funds and donate toys, blankets, beds, and other comfort items to shelter animals.

No act of kindness is ever too small to help our deserving dogs and cats.
