Pro Tip for your Xmas Puppies
"He was already in the crate all night so I feel guilty putting him back in"
That playpen is holding my (then) 2yr old, Emma. I can't remember what I was doing that day/time exactly but I know I was busy. Busy enough I couldn't keep a proper eye on her so to the playpen she went. Even AFTER she had slept all night in her crib, spent meal times locked in a high chair and possibly was even strapped into a car seat or stroller. FOR HER SAFETY and my sanity. Because every moment I wasn't able to give her my full attention, she was sure to be putting something in her mouth, pulling things off a shelf or end table, bothering a dog, almost falling down the steps or opening my damn cabinets to pull out pots and pans!
Same rules apply to your to your dogs! Crates are amazing tools for a number of reasons but if you don't use them for any other one, please use them to keep your new dog/puppy safe and put them away when you cannot give them your full attention!
They are also great to help with potty training, creating structure, giving your dog a decompression area and having a dog comfortable in a crate makes life's emergencies much less stressful on your dog!
