Horses have been a significant part of my life since I was 7 years old. The basis of my time with horses has always been building a strong, trusting bond with my horse. Now as I finally start my career centered around horses, I am keeping that mentality in all areas of my teaching.

The true journey with horses started for me when I rescued my first horse, Flicka, when I was 14. She came from abuse and neglect and we worked through those demons and traumas she held on to in our 11 years together. It was with Flicka that I found my love for dressage back in 2013.

Today I find myself making my dream a reality, creating a career with horses. Horses have been something so special to me and I still cherish the instructors who taught me how to ride as a kid. What's my goal? To gift that same love and knowledge to the next generation of equestrians. To teach this next generation the partnership and respect we should have with our horses. From there, the sky is the limit.

I made it back from vacation everyone! I have openings for lessons so if you're interested please message me ☺️

A tiny clip of me riding Noir yesterday. He has become so light in the bridle and aware of his body over the last 2 months. He is really thriving since we moved to Fall Wind Farm between being a part of a herd, having on average 12 hours of turnout a day, some dietary changes to lower starch and sugar feeds made in Europe, working 4 days a week, and we just started a treatment for hind gut ulcers.

More videos to come in the near future 😁

I'm having a moment because today I taught 7 lessons. YES, HOLY CRAP lol.

I also worked the barn manager's horse in a really fun ground work session. He's an Arabian so I always have to have him guessing what we're doing πŸ˜….

Then I rode Noir and because he was so good, I walked around two very close friends from Colombia on him 😭 I never thought other people on Noir would be a possibility but I have not given him enough credit honestly. He was with ME and so careful πŸ₯Ή.

Literally since I came home from college all I've said was.... I'd be so happy if I could just work with horses full time.

We all know how the story goes 😞......

Life is too expensive for us to chase our dreams some of the time, or maybe most of the time 🀷.

The stars aligned. Like cosmic, Universe stuff 🌌🌠

Olga Spanhoff gifted me the opportunity to start lessons at the barn in Sugar Hill.

THEN...

Sandpiper was an amazing horse and ended up fitting perfectly into our family. She is worth her weight in gold simply because she takes such good care of her Rider. I also love to take a day and ride her because she's so enjoyable to ride 🌻

I have to give the most credit where it's due. To my husband Cris, who has kept hearing me say how much I wanted this to be my career since we met. The opportunity was there and you LITERALLY said.... Take it....

What a gift. Thank you to everyone who has had a part in this. You have changed my life🐴☺️ and I hope you I change yours πŸ’―%

I feel so fulfilled seeing one of my first students I started instructing since starting my business and her horse developing so beautifullly in our training! I am LOVING working with Taylor and Napoleon, her approximately 15-year-old Andalusian gelding 😍

Thank you for taking the leap with me Taylor πŸ₯Ή

Here is a quick overview of stretches I do with Noir before I even put the saddle on his back to ride!

This concept was introduced to me by the USDF gold medalist trainer, Kelly Pullen, when I was her working student. She had me stretch every horse she had in training before the saddle went on.

I've kept this going with my horse Noir. I kid you not, after I stopped the video, Noir stretched his front legs forward and shifted his weight back to further stretch himself πŸ˜† he loves it!

Message me or comment here with questions!!

Special thank you to Olga Spanhoff for offering me this opportunity to start my lesson and training program.

And thank you to my husband Cris for pushing me to do what I love πŸ₯Ή.

And to my FIRST clients, putting your trust in me has been everything I needed and more.

I will have more videos soon of my riding and training journey so stay tuned!

Hi all!!

I'm having stickers made!!!

I'm trying to see how many to order.

Can you comment here if you'd want to buy a sticker?

And I mean like at cost to order them from a friend who does this for a living, for now 😁🌻

Nothing like a 6 horse working day to prove to me that starting this business was 1000% the right decision πŸ₯Ή

Who thinks this will be Noir in a few years? πŸ‘€πŸ™‹

Noir has made it back to Fall Wind Farm successfully, and has integrated into a herd of 8 horses. He has been in single turnout, sometimes with only like 3 hours of turnout a day, for a while now.

I'm so grateful. He has 7 friends, 10+ hours of turnout again, and gets to be a horse as well as an athlete.

Thank you Olga Spanhoff for welcoming us with open arms.

He will need a little settling time as I know my quirky boy, but I truly believe he will be SO happy 😍

For the first time in a while, I worked five horses today! Finishing out with my boy Noir 😍. I had such a fun variety of horses today from a 6-year-old Arabian who we will be starting under saddle soon, to a beautiful 15-year-old Andalusian who is super physically able and ready to advance with his mama, then to a previous broodmare who is green but so so sweet just needs more sessions to learn balance, and of course then my little Pipper Snapper and Noir!

As always I forget to take pictures, but Olga Spanhoff and I were able to attend a full day clinic today by Dressage training legend, Dominique Barbier. We each got a signed book. I can't wait to hopefully attend his next clinic with Noir, and in the immediate future apply my learning from today to the horses I'm working with πŸ™πŸ˜

Let me introduce myself.

I'm Erica Meza Langkau, owner of Erica Meza Langkau Equestrian Services!

I started riding when I was 7 years old. My first discipline was huntseat. I also was a member of 4-H from the age of 7 until I aged out at 18. I leased and showed horses from the farm where I grew up riding at until I got my first horse, Flicka, when I was 14.

Flicka was a rescue horse. She was 200 pounds underweight, only 3 years old, covered in lice, and unknowingly to us, pregnant. She taught me patience, awareness, and honestly how to heal a broken horse. She died suddenly and tragically in October of 2018, but I had 11 years of time and learning with her.

While I had Flicka, I took her to college with me at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY. I majored in biology with a minor in Equine Sciences. I was also on the dressage equestrian team.

Fast forward to 2016, I was home from college and working a job I hated. I got the opportunity to be the working student and assistant barn manager for USDF Gold Medalist Kelly Pullen of Windswept Farm in Canterbury, NH. I was given 4 lessons a week and worked as Kelly's assistant. I was able to ride horses in her program from just starting under saddle all the way up to Grand Prix trained. I also was able to ride in clinics with previous USA Olympic Dressage Coach, Pamela Goodrich.

Life occured and I left Windswept Farm to continue my college education. I decided to save my pennies and buy a high level dressage prospect. The c**t I bought is a 2016 Olympic Ferro baby (Olympic Ferro went to the Olympics for Dressage multiple times, and he also went Grand Prix in showjumping). I bought Noir when he was 11 months old. My now gelding Le Perle Noir is now 8 years old, just recovered from a back injury, and we are planning to do a full show season in 2025 so I can start earning my medals.

I specialize in patience and understanding. I'm devoted to the horses. And once the horses are in a place where they are ready for work, unity of horse and rider in a balanced, correct way matters.

I want to teach kids how to be around horses in a safe way while experiencing all the glory horses offer us. This is just the beginning, and I look forward to aiding the next generation of equestrians.
