Become a Foster parent today!

If you’re looking to support the Humane Society of Sullivan County and make a real difference for local animals, we’re on the lookout for foster parents!

Cat and kitten season is approaching, and we need to keep our furry friends safe and sound before they get to their forever homes. Kittens thrive and grow faster in a home setting than in a shelter. In the shelter their tiny immune systems are exposed to many unknown elements.

As a foster parent for our animal shelter, you will be provided with food, litter, blankets and other supplies you may need. Plus, you'll even get to adopt one of your foster animals at no charge. The most important part is that you get the training and preparation you need to be a successful foster parent.

Stop by today and get your foster application submitted! You can also email tina @ [email protected]!

There’s something about Rosemary!
Our senior girl Rosemary is looking for a retirement home to spend the remainder of her years. She sadly isn’t doing well at our facility she is becoming depressed and never wants to leave her litter box.
She is around 10 years old and the sweetest thing! She gets a lot well with other cats and doesn’t mind dogs. She would make a great companion for someone who is lonely and needing a best friend.
Can someone give Rosemary the retirement home she deserves!? Call or message us if interested

As part of our initiative to reduce barriers for adoption in 2025, we are making some changes to our Foster to Adopt program!

Approved adopters will now be permitted to Foster to Adopt any of our already spayed or neutered animals on a two-week trial basis without a full adoption commitment.

Here is how the pilot program will work: Adopters must complete the adopter information packet, be approved by staff, and keep a valid credit or debit card on file at the Humane Society. You will be permitted to foster the animal for a two-week trial period. At the end of the two weeks, you must complete the adoption or return the animal to our facility. Foster to Adopt families will be responsible for the cost of any outside medical care given or any incidents that occur while the animal is in their care. If the animal is not returned, the adoption fee will be charged to the account on file with a 3% credit/debit card charge.

Update: Foster family pending!

We are in need of a medical foster home for a 6-8 month old small spayed female dog.
Sienna is roughly 25 pounds and is under a tremendous amount of stress here at the shelter. She has chewed off most of her fur on her back side. She has visited Sullivan Animal Hospital, she has received an injection and is currently on an antibiotic to help.
Our veterinarian and staff believe it is stress related. She has been in groups with other dogs and all of our other dogs are fine.
We are looking at home to place her in for 4 weeks to see if the reduced stress level eliminated the problem. We can supply food, medicated shampoo, and her medication. She looks rough, but acts completely happy and healthy.
Anyone willing to help us with this cutie?
Please Private message us today or email [email protected].
