I always begin the spring with herbs. Plants that have been seeded and protected all winter. They are hardier. For the south there is no limit. Basil, thyme, rosemary,dill, lavender, oregano, green onions, shallots. Lemon balm. Lemon grass. Lemon verbena. Basil will be your most sensitive. Add to the list in comments. 🌱

It's me. Word is out that I am in Louisiana and I have been running into people and getting calls about spring time planting. I will try to address a few of these things in coming posts. We can discuss everything from the soil test to the making of a delicious potting soil. The best and quickest way to have successful seeding and raised beds and pots for maximum production. Hang with me and welcome to Spring in the South. Now is the time to test soil, and cut those roses back if you haven't already. You are in a blessed part of the earth. Super long growing season. 🐝

Still here by the grace of God. Lovely weather with plenty of moisture in the ground here in Southwest Louisiana. Lovely time for planting seed for spring bloom and vegetables. Rock it! Seed, root.

Trying not to overwhelm my Ann Diaz friends. But those interested, David Austin doesn’t just have the hybrid varieties of antique roses. The New Old as he has been known to call it. But he has specimens of the originals. These opened like this are those that gather the bees. And smell delicious.

You have no idea how much I want to speak about insects. We really do want to make friends with our enemies. Why is this not being taught in elementary school. Maybe we need to quit waiting on the Rothchilds to give it up and just DO IT!!!! Bring me your gift. I will bring you mine.

I wanted to encourage u that the yard work will not go away. Don’t worry about it. A little everyday is worth a lot and don’t sweat the small stuff. It is to be enjoyed. Not a task master. This Alyssum has a wonderful white flower musky scent. Once smelled it is unforgettable . Should be planted in fall, not now. Makes a beautiful edging.

Steve Divers. These trees have never bloomed in this yard. All bought from same place. Citrus and Peaches haven’t produced . Ect.

LOUISIANA. This is to make u feel better about the enormous amount of weeds you may have right now. The rain has slowed so many things down and sped up the weeds. There are rose bushes underneath this morning glory. Or tie vine as some may call it. It is the end of August. You may start cutting roses back but above all, clean those garden beds. Our best garden here is the winter garden. Start dreaming!

See that yellow bloom on the ornamental Kale? Don't do that. I am the shoemaker"s daughter. Cut that off and you will have prettier foliage longer. They seem to always be ahead of everyone else in Spring.

Myco Apply is mychorrizae. What is it? Beneficial microbes. Like a good probiotic for our digestive system. This is 0.8 lbs. in a 3,450 sq. foot bed. It will then begin to grow and feed off the minerals and organic matter in your soil, IF you don't kill them w bad gardening practices or harmful fertilizers or pesticides and especially herbicides. I.e. Glyphosates.

Please read at least the 2nd paragraph under the topic TASTE. It is important to know about the chemicals released from a healthy plant versus a sick or low immune system one. Insects are here to devour the weak or sick so they don't reproduce weak genes. And a sick plant gives off the chemicals that attract them. If it doesn't blow your mind, it should. Much like our bodies. :0
We should strive to produce the healthiest and most nutrient dense food we can possibly grow. Then all of our foods are Superfoods! Thanks Art.

Good morning. It has been a while since I have posted on Pure Earth Botanicals because I have been a Busy Lizzy on a personal page of Ann Diaz. I appreciate everyone who has liked this page. We are hoping to stay focused on before and after pictures in the gardens we maintain and seasonal blooms. I will stay out of politics except on the latest information on Monsanto and the bombardment of pesticide and GMO foods. Exciting things are happening.
