K9s In The News🗞️: Summerville Police Department adds an Electronic Detection K9!
Welcome, K9 Gripple, to the Summerville Police Department (SPD) in South Carolina's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. Gripple, a 2-year-old English lab, and handler Detective Heidkamp were officially certified as an ESD handler and K9, by the Jordan Detection K9 School earlier this month.
K9 Gripple is trained to find concealed electronic devices that are hard to find due to their small size and will work cases such as s*x trafficking, child po*******hy, online predators, child abuse, and more, said SPD. K9 Gripple comes after the collaboration of SPD, Defenders for Children, and Gripple Inc., with a special donation from an “Angel Donor."
“Gripple Inc. is a 100% employee-owned manufacturer of suspension solutions for construction. Along with our distribution partner, ASC Equipment, we are so proud to support Defenders for Children and this amazing K9 program, with the goal to keep the communities that we all live and work in much safer,” Gripple Inc. said.
Gripple will also double as an emotional support animal for victims where the victim may need comfort through the process of providing a statement or counseling at the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).
Congratulations, Detective Heidkamp and K9 Gripple; we cannot wait to follow your careers.
