Feature Friday! Spotlight on Staff Travel: Lyndsey ✈️🌅

Though Lyndsey has done a fair amount of globetrotting, she has taken her travels state-side since the pandemic (and the adoption of multiple pets). Her favorite region to visit is the southwestern United States, and specifically Colorado and Utah. She has a handful of friends who have made those states their home, and visiting them creates an excuse to take in diverse landscapes and wildlife (see video of moose). She finds visiting this region feels like visiting another planet at times, and she is always glad to return to the beautiful Appalachian mountains she gets to call home.

📣 We have BIG news! We are coming back to the neighborhood!

While we plan to return to Whitson Avenue someday, the red tape has prevented progress at that location. Rest assured that we are working diligently to acquire the permission to clear the land to demolish our building and eliminate the eyesore.

We cannot thank you enough for your support over the past year as we’ve learned to navigate this unprecedented tragedy. We truly understand that making the trip to our temporary location in Ge**er Village in South Asheville is not easy, and not possible for some of our clients. We appreciate those of you who have come to visit us. Seeing familiar faces has made this journey easier!

Now, for the news you’ve been waiting for! We are moving to 3126 US Highway 70 in Black Mountain, just FIVE MINUTES from the old Beacon! We are absolutely thrilled to welcome you to our new space and hope you’ll be as excited as we are! There is work to be done, and we hope to be moved in by the end of the year. Please keep your eyes on our page for updates, and feel free to reach out with any questions.

We hope to see you soon, and we can't wait to welcome you all to our new little piece of the Valley!

This has been one heck of a year and we thank you for your support.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Johansson, Dr. Ashe, Jennifer and the entire Beacon Vet Team

Feature Friday! Spotlight on Staff Travel: Dr. Johansson ✈️⛺️🎒

I love all kinds of travel. Recently our family has explored New York, Montreal, and Philadelphia—chasing good food, live music (especially jazz), and the kind of adventures you only find in cities. With three of us, there’s a built-in democracy: two votes decide what to see, where we eat, should we nap, etc.

We’ve soaked in the awe of the Rockies (my daughter flies down the slopes while I stick to the greens and easy blues), and we make frequent escapes to the NC coast. I’m a “beach in all seasons” guy—even in winter, when it’s just us, the dogs, and the ocean. We’ve done a bit of camping too, but I’ll confess to a soft spot for yurt camping.

Travel always helps me feel more grounded and willing to try small changes in life. But the best part is always coming home. Whether from a plane or a car window, that first sight of our beautiful Appalachian Mountains fills my heart with a sense of home and awe in the everyday.

Soooo true.
