Teaching our SDiT to clean up her toys
Melancholy has gotten SO much better at this task since we first started. But she still struggles with wanting to play with the toys while training🤣 Which is fair, she's repeatedly grabbing toys and it's very tempting to play with them while interacting with them, this task requires alot of impulse control on her end and she's doing amazing with her progress💙
So why are we teaching her this skill? For one, the dogs have unlimited acess to their toy drawer - they use the string tied to the handles to pull the drawer open and help themselves throughout the day. which means every night I have to go around the house and collect all the toys and put them back in the drawer so that the next day they can inevitably take them all out again🤣 I would love for Melancholy to be able to assist in that task.
But another reason why we are teaching this is because it's a transferable skill! Once she understands this task wholeheartedly we'll then work on teaching her to pick up clothes off the floor and place them in a laundry basket!

This is still one of my top 3 favorite tricks to train. Dog training isn't always about potty training and having manners around the house and around people/dogs.

Well sort of. We hired a relocation company to make the move easier for us. Today they're taking all of our furniture and personal belongings, then we close on the sale of the house in a few days and it's off to North Carolina we go😍
Hiring a relocation company was such a good decision and while extremely expensive🫠 it was worth every penny. They wrap all of the furniture to protect it during the move, they load and unload the truck at the new house, and they also disassemble any items that need to be taken apart and put it back together once at the new place. SO much less stressful than having to handle everything on our own

I need footage of current Melancholy's fancy heel. We've been tirelessly working at this one. And by we I mean me. Every step away from the lure has been fought back by melancholy. I've been slacking on Instagram lately. This was from melancholy's play date with Sadie (and Ruby) a couple weeks ago. The girls got to run out some energy together and romp around and ended the session with some dual training.
Ruby and Sadie's mom was a previous client who become such a close friend of ours. We are so proud (and not surprised) how well she integrated Sadie with Ruby and continued on their training together.
They're so cute together. We can't wait for their next play date

We started Melancholy's Allergy Detection training this week and she's already doing amazing😍
Unfortunately I have a severe tomato allergy, so we're going to be putting Melancholy to work with the end goal of being able to use her at the market while shopping and while at restaurants to ensure there was no cross contamination while they made my food. This means we need her to be able to identify all forms of tomatoes (fresh, tomato powder, tomato paste etc)
For now she is working on the individual food/scent and eventually we will mix it in with other items to make it a more accurate scenario and then we'll progress to trace amounts of it such as a cross contamination and eventually get her able to detect it in pre-made frozen foods through the packaging which is how she'll be able to help us while grocery shopping!
