Even the best dogs have accidents sometimes 😭

Melancholy NEVER has potty accidents so she definitely wasn't feeling good last night. But that also means she had to suffer through a bath this morning🤣 I know I know, she looks "so sad", poor thing🙄

Thought I'd use this opportunity to reiterate why it's so important to not scold your dog for having accidents. There are a few reasons why scolding your dog is counterproductive to potty training:

●When puppies are young they don't understand the different between it being wrong to go potty inside the house and outside the house, they can misinterpret being scolded into thinking that the action of going potty is what was wrong, causing them to not want to go potty even outside and resulting in them holding their potty until they literally can't anymore

●In extreme cases - in my experience it has been when people shove their dogs nose in a potty accident, those dogs can be afraid of getting scolded again and that will result in them eating their own p**p (yes some dogs do this because of dietary issues and lack of nutrients, others do this because their gross and like to eat their own p**p, but we're strictly talking about dogs who do it as a result of being scolded)

●Some dogs thrive on attention, whether it be good or bad attention and will see being scolded as a reward for the potty accident

Lastly, you should know when your dog had a normal accident from lack of potty training vs this situation where Melancholy hasn't had an accident in MONTHS and the current condition of the crate is clear evidence that she wasn't feeling well. In this situation, you should be KIND to your dog, see if they still aren't feeling well and take a trip to your local grocery store for some canned pumpkin (which I will be doing later today) to help them with any remaining soft stool

When potty training your puppy, you always get further with positive reinforcement, instead of scolding for accidents, try throwing a party outside when they do go potty in the correct place and give lots of praise and treats! That will have a far larger impact on your training.

Also I'm sorry ya'll had to see the current state of her crate but if this is how I had to start my morning then I don't feel bad🤣

Also pro tip for cleaning the "puppy explosion" just bring it outside and hose it down, saves you alot of time and frustration 🤣

Meet Nova🥰

This adorable pup has so much to learn and is going to be so fun to work with! Puppies are definitely my favorite to work with because they're so full of life and love and happiness. Plus who doesnt love a puppy jumping all over them and attacking them with kisses🤣

Okay so this might seem like a small thing but I'm in love with finally having a charging station for our ecollars and SpotOn Fence collars😍 It looks alittle chaotic when everything is charging🤣 but I'll eventually figure out how to make the cords look less "messy". For now I'm living my best life decorating the Training Room of my dreams

Our Christmas present to the dogs this year was a new house💙

This is the last picture we'll ever take of them infront of the house we called home for 5 years.

It's bittersweet leaving Massachusetts, especially because we had to leave our family behind and we will miss them dearly but this was the best move for both us and the dogs. They now have a massive house they can roam around in and an even bigger yard to run until their little souls are content💙

It took us 2 days and 19hours of driving (I'm guessing it was post holiday traffic) but we FINALLY got to the new house last night, we were all very happy to get out of the car🤣 And it was truly a memory to never forget watching them excitedly run through the new house and explore every last inch of it.

Here's to the next chapter of our lives🥰

Handsome Rogue practicing his "tuck" position at PetCo🥰

A tuck position is the best way to take up the minimum amount of space in a public area when accompanied by your dog. Rogue's mom would love to be able to turn him into a Service Dog but he's going to need a bit more work first, but he's definitely on the road to sucess with a dedicated mom who trains with him daily🥰

What do you see when you look at this photo?

What I see is a fear reactive shelter pup allowing a "stranger" to pet her💙

Macey has big "stranger danger" feelings and her mom has been working extremly hard to help her feel more comfortable in the world. She did everything she possibly could for Macey to help build her confidence and help her realize humans aren't so scary afterall. All of her mom's hard work paid off when she was able to have family over for the holidays and not only did Macey accept strangers in the house, but she allowed them to pet her🎉 And if you notice, her back is turned in this photo, which is a HUGE sign of trust💙

These are the things we should be grateful for this holiday season, good job Macey!🎉
