It's extremely difficult to run a small business, do all the behind the scenes work, groom full time and keep doors open when clients don't abide by the rules or have common courtesy to give us a heads up about very important information. We are a PUBLIC GROOMING SALON. WE ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. THAT MEANS OTHER PETS DO COME IN THE SALON THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
IF YOUR DOG OR CAT....
IS NOT GOOD AROUND OTHERS AND NEEDS A PRIVATE APPOINTMENT WE NEED TO KNOW AT BOOKING OTHERWISE WE CANNOT SERVICE YOUR PET AT THAT TIME AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THAT APPOINTMENT.

HAS FLEAS YOU NEED TO TREAT YOUR HOME AND PETS. GROOMERS DO NOT/ SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWING PETS WITH FLEAS IN THE SALON PERIOD. THIS CAN SPREAD TO OTHER PETS.
I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO GIVE YOU ADVICE OVER THE PHONE AND GUIDELINES HOW TO TREAT YOUR HOME AND PET.

SHOW UP ON TIME FOR DROP OFF AND PICK UP. ITS VERY SIMPLE!!! If you're early pop in to see if we can take you in sooner. No guarantee but worth a shot! If we tell you no, come back AT YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME THAT DOES NOT MEAN COME BACK 15 MINUTES LATE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT.
IF WE GIVE YOU A PICK UP TIME, COME BACK AT THAT TIME. IF WE SAY THIS TIME OR LATER AND GIVE A WINDOW COME BACK BETWEEN THOSE TIMES.
IF YOU COME IN FOR PICK UP EARLY AND YOUR PET IS ON THE TABLE AND GETS DISTRACTED BY YOU, WE ARE FINISHED RIGHT THEN AND THERE.
This is a major safety issue for the groomers (and pet) when they see you and get all excited while we have shears in our hand trimming your dog's ears, face, around their eyes ect. Shears on moving pets do not mix well.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE CALL BEFORE YOUR SUPPOSED TO BE HERE. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHARGE LATE FEES AS IT AFFECTS OUR SCHEDULE, OTHER APPOINTMENTS AND DISRUPTS THE SMOOTH FLOW IN THE SALON. WE DO THINGS FOR A REASON. IF THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE WE WILL START DOING BUSINESS HOW OTHER SALONS IN THE AREA DO.... EVERYONE DROPS OFF AT ONCE, WE CALL WHEN READY. I REALLY DONT WANT TO GO THAT ROUTE. ALSO, I WILL BE CRACKING DOWN HARD ON NO SHOWS AND HAVING TO RESCHEDULE BECAUSE WE WERENT TOLD YOUR DOG CANT BE AROUND OTHER DOGS. SORRY, THERE ARE 5 OTHER DOGS IN THE SALON RIGHT NOW.
I am speaking on behalf of my salon as well as others and our ongoing extreme frustration.

Today alone.... (1)55 minutes LATE dropping off, (1) 2 hours early, (1) refuses to stand- big pup too and cant be in a kennel, (1) 30 minutes early told to come back at original appointment time then comes back 15 minutes late for appointment check in and then Im told cant be around other dogs. ITS SO FRUSTRATING! PLEASE UNDERSTAND OUR FRUSTRATION AND WHY WE ALL HAVE SET RULES IN PLACE! We dont have magic wands, we cant and wont brush out cast matted or pelted dogs, we wont demat a dog for hours on end. Its not fair to the dogs! And its extremely uncomfortable. It's not our fault your dog is not used to grooming or won't let you brush them at home. But what we can do is get them on regular scheduled grooming, teach you the proper ways to brush and comb them, things to avoid and very slowly and tediously shave out the mats. Mat removal is NOT QUICK AND EASY.

I hope these issues do not continue otherwise I will have no choice but to implement more rules which I don't want to do. All we want is smooth sailing, adhere to the schedule, listen to the pros and communicate with us.

We have a ZERO TOLERANCE FLEA policy!
IF YOUR PET(S) HAS ANY OF THE FOLLOWING WE MUST BE NOTIFIED AT BOOKING.
**NEW IF YOU BRING YOUR PET IN KNOWING IT PROBABLY OR ABSOLUTELY HAS FLEAS YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE FLEA ERADICATION FEE PLUS SERVICES YOUR PET IS SCEHDULED FOR THST DAY if your pet enters the salon. We've had to eradicate the salon multiple times the past few weeks already because we weren't notified a pet checking may or does have fleas.
To those concerned, the pet suspected of or knowing having fleas is required to exit the salon immediately. We then vacuum, mop and spray a natural flea and tick spray that kills possible fleas that may have dropped on the carpet at the entrance. The vacuum is then emptied, bagged and tossed outside immediately. At the end of the day we use a flea fogger that last up to 37 weeks. The following days we use a peremeter spray as well. But to be absolutely certain pets aren't spreading the flea cycle we DO NOT ALLOE ANY PETS WITH FLEAS IN THE SALON FOR ANY REASON.
I will post helpful information on fleas, the cycle, how to prevent and how to treat an infestation later today.

We must stay strict on this policy as we do not want to bring fleas into our home and we certainly don't want your pet going home with unwanted hitchhikers. It is our professional obligation to ensure your pet's wellbeing and safety is a priority while in our care.

-black coffee ground like matter on skin. TEST with damp paper towel. Rub the black matter in damp paper towel. If it turns rust or red color that's FLEA DIRT (FLEA 💩)

-itchy, unknown cause

WE CAN CHECK PET IN PARKING LOT FOR FLEAS PRIOR TO BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT. IF APPT IS MADE AND WE FIND OUT AT CHECK IN OR DURING APPT YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR APPOINTNENT AND FLEA ERADICATION TREATMENT.
This has happened too many times which is a loss of business for us, loss of income which is what puts food on our family's table. We really don't appreciate when a client tells us at check in the pet has fleas and we ask if they are on a preventative or if the owner knows the pet has fleas. Then the story changes or the client assumes we're just going to do a flea dip. NO! Dips are harsh chemicals. Bad for the pet, bad for our skin and theirs. It also doesn't solve the problem.

Good morning, due to the extreme heat and humidity today and tomorrow the salon will be open by appointment only. Although our cooling system is amazing at keeping us all comfortable it does work the system harder with the dryers and dehumidifier going. Therefore during these hot spells we may have to alter appointment times.
That being said, during these heat spells I will be scheduling for all pups getting baths for first thing in the morning. This may extend your pet's visit so we can get all baths and drying done before it gets super hot and the added humidity from drying.
Also, AT DROP OFF AND PICK UP during these scorcher days please PARK RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOORS so your pup doesn't have to walk more than a few steps on the hot pavement.
Clients with medical conditions that worsen in this weather please notify me at time of booking or before arriving so we can keep an eye out for your car. We can greet you at yiur car so you don't have to get out.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, walk those pups in the am or late in the evening after the pavement has cooled to prevent burning of their paw pads.

Thank you all for your understanding and patience this week. Melissa and I both had family emergencies Monday night. Something we were both in disbelief. We will be back to our normal hours and quick response times tomorrow. Although this weekend is our weekend off, I will be finishing the long list of replies and call backs. Please bare with me. If you don't hear back by Sunday evening please reach out on Monday. Leaving multiple messages and multiple calls a day from the same person only slows down my response time. So please only call multiple time a day if it's an emergency/ urgent appointment request. Otherwise, our policy is I will return messages by the end of the next business day until further notice.

I can't ever stress enough the importance of....
1. properly fitting, slip proof collar or harness
2. backup safety net
3. regular leash NOT RETRACTABLE
4. martingale collar
5. ID tag on collar, leash and harness
6. always on a leash in public places, new area or near traffic

THIS MYSTERY LEASH AND COLLAR WAS FOUND TODAY ON TEMPLE MOUNTAIN. Is the pup lost? Was it left there in memory of, did the dog slip the collar but made it home with their owner? Those are all questions GSDG and others don't have the answers to. But this is what is often found when a pet slips it's loose collar or harness.

Hi! Sorry I haven't been attentive on here recently. I slipped a disc in my neck which resulted in extreme nerve issues in my dominate shoulder to my fingers. Anyways, I will be wrapping up all loose ends of call backs and messages I have not gotten back to. I have been grooming but cautiously and on the mend! SO BE READY FOR LOTS OF POSTS AND PICTURES ONCE I CLEAR OUT MY 10,000+ PHOTOS ON MY PHONE! Wow, that's a bit excessive.... I need to do some serious spring cleaning on my phone!

TRICKS OF THE TRADE
ANY GUESSES WHAT A MAJORITY OF CLIENTS HAVE AS THEIR ONLY TOOL OR "GO TO" TO USE AT HOME?
Take a look at these tools. Notice what made the biggest difference. Read photo comments for more information. Notice which one hardly did anything! Now if I only used that slicker brush all this heavy, thick undercoat would have matted up once she starts her heavy spring shedding. When they get matted we have no choice but to.... 😢 shave them short! Mats always start close to the skin, get tighter and incorporate more hair and pull tight on the skin the longer they are on the pet. Princessa didnt have this problem. She was in good shape. Just needed to get that heavy winter jacket off and needed a little sanitary trim to tidy up her hinny to keep that clean. Long hair cats are notorious for getting 💩 stuck in their fur if it gets too long. 🫢😶‍🌫️

Before & after. Cats do NEED US.
Princessa is a gorgeous, super sweet, huggable Maine C**n with heavy undercoat, a couple mats on her hinny and needed her pants (sanitary) area trimmed. Notice before photo she didn't have visible dandruff? That's because all this undercoat was preventing her skin from breathing/ getting air. Although she does an amazing job keeping up on her self care long hair cats need assistance removing all this extra fluff. Otherwise can you imagine her ingesting all this fur over time as she grooms herself? That's a lot of hairballs. The dander loosened off her skin as her coat was brushed and combed out. I removed more dander using dryer and gave her a little sprucing up with a gentle waterless sponge bath and some deep hydrating coat conditoner. I'm sure when she wakes up from her second nap (she snoozed during her spa treatment) she will remove more loose dander when she grooms herself again.
