Today we are celebrating history made! I am so excited and relieved for all of the pups that this helps now that have been surrended and killed unnecessarily. Hopefully this relieves some of the weight in volume of dogs surrendered in local shelters and protects future ones. 🥰🎉

Wow. We… we actually did it. 💜

We can’t even believe this. This is EVERYTHING.

After 27 long years, Prince George’s County has officially lifted the breed ban. The County Council passed CB-097, a historic and comprehensive overhaul of the animal control code - championed by Chair Edward Burroughs III and shaped by years of collaboration between residents, advocates, and community leaders.

As the Prince George’s Pet Unity Project, we are deeply proud to have led this effort. For years, we’ve listened to residents, uplifted community stories, partnered with volunteers and local leaders, and pushed for fair, effective, evidence-based laws that keep families together and make our neighborhoods safer.

CB-097 strengthens leash laws, increases accountability for dangerous dogs, updates outdated definitions, improves public safety, and launches a pilot foster/adoption program for the dogs who were once banned. It is a modern, compassionate, community-centered path forward.

To Chair Burroughs and the County Council members who believed in safe, fair, effective policy - thank you.

To our volunteers, supporters, and every resident who showed up, spoke up, or stood with us - this victory is ours.

Today, Prince George’s County made history.

Now, we celebrate. Tomorrow… back to work. (Okay, maybe a few days of celebration)
And together, we’ll keep building a safer, fairer, more unified community for people and their pets

Dear Friends, I am collecting for Baltimore Humane Society's wish list and also helping to stock the emergency pet food pantry. They will take opened bags or slightly expired cat food only as they have a volunteer who feeds cat colonies
If you have any of the items below, you can either drop off at Pet Supplies Plus in Eldersburg, or I can pick up. Thanks for helping our local furry kids have full bellies and happy hearts this season!

Good news is I will be fostering a few kitties in the next week or so! I have most of the supplies but I am looking for a cat tree or any interactive things some young kitties would enjoy. Does anyone have any they would like to part with or sell cheap to me? The kitties thank you! 😻

Please don't use glue and sticky traps to control wasps and other bugs. It harms birds, butterflies, bees and so many other important creatures. It's a cruel way to kill something regardless.

A few weeks ago, we saw our first cases of patients stuck on glue traps advertised for "spotted lanternfly capture" and shared our concern at this new outdoor use of glue traps. Since then, we have seen numerous birds admitted for the same reason, including these two Downy Woodpeckers found stuck together to the same trap!

Please help us spread the word that glue traps are NOT an effective form of pest control for spotted lanternflies and are frequently harming other native wildlife. Glue traps are indiscriminate, meaning they do not target one specific species and often harm unintended victims like songbirds, snakes, other insects, and small mammals. Help us spread the word to save other native animals from this same fate!

This weekend has been the hardest one for me and I am completely heartbroken. Unfortunately, my baby boy Bentley crossed over Saturday night after his battle with lymphoma. He almost made it a full year after diagnosis and I was hoping to have another year or five years with him... Because there is just never enough time with your fur baby. Bentley fought hard for me and I fought hard for him. He was my copilot, soulmate and best friend since he walked into my life at six weeks old and the love I felt for him was indescribable. I am just crushed beyond words.

So please forgive me if I am a bit short, distant or scatter brained, as I am trying to process this loss and heartache. I haven't posted much the last few months as he has been my main focus. Thank you for being patient with me and I am grateful for all of you who have always supported me.
