Showing horses has always been about more than just winning for me.

As much as I love seeing my clients bring home the blue, I find the most joy in helping them become confident riders that challenge themselves, work hard to achieve their goals, and learn how to be the best riders they can be in and out of the ring.

✨ Groom Spotlight: Oliver – Groom / Assistant Trainer at SS Performance Horses ✨
Oliver is a fixture at HDHP and one we are all proud to have!

Oliver began his tenure here five years ago with Tom Foran and has stayed at the facility working for and with Stacie Wight of SS Performance Horses for the last four years. Oliver chooses horses because, “This is my life; they are my life” a statement that is evident when you watch him work. Oliver has a special touch with young horses and is able to be an important part of the training process for western horses and hunters and jumpers alike. In fact, many of our hunter/jumper trainers use Stacie and Oliver to help them get young horses going. Oliver is proud to work at HDHP and loves everything about the property. He is particularly fond of the park setting and the peace he feels here when working.

HDHP is proud to be a workplace for genuine, lifelong horsemen like Oliver.

Raise your hand if you've ever gone off pattern! 🙋‍♀️
We've all been there. But don't let memorizing your course make you anxious.

Here are some helpful tips:

𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗜𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻: Divide the pattern into smaller segments. Focus on memorizing one part at a time before combining them.
𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻: Close your eyes and picture yourself riding through the pattern. Visualizing the movements can reinforce memory.
𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀: Identify key points or markers along the pattern. These can serve as reference points to help you remember the sequence.
𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝘀𝗲:
Explaining the pattern to another person can help reinforce your understanding and memory.
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗲𝗱: On the day of the show, stay calm and focused.

Consistent practice and a positive mindset will help you nail that pattern every time, no matter the obstacles. Good luck!

I have so much to be thankful for this year. But what I'm most grateful for is my family, who supports me and all the crazy horse ways, and my incredible barn family who always show up with a smile and support. I couldn't do it without you all!❤️

We had so many incredible moments at the show, including:

- Kelly Johnson and Johns Affair: 1, 1 in the W/T All Breed Trail

It's Day 1 of the APHC Harvest of Color, and we're off to an AMAZING start! 🤩

Karen Enderson and Zipped On Too Many took the win in the Amateur In-Hand Trail!

Maia Landon and Would He Be The Best won the Amateur Walk/Trot! They also placed 1st and 7th in Walk/Trot Pleasure.

Andrea Deyoung and This Scene is Taken rocked the Walk/Trot Pleasure, placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th! They also placed 1st and 3rd in Amateur Walk/Trot Horsemanship.

We can't wait to see the rest of our barn show! Let's go, SS Performance Horses!

I'm beyond excited to share that I won the Leading Trail Trainer in the Gold Coast Horse Shows Trainer Trip program presented by LEGIS - LEG Insurance Solutions!

This past weekend was the Gold Coast Finale, the last show of the Gold Coast Horse Show series, and what an amazing year it's been!

We've had so much fun showing all year at these shows, improving our skills, and bringing home those ribbons! And we always love being able to show at our very own Hansen Dam Horse Park 💙
