We are honored today to have Ellie (and her Natural Support, Savannah) here as part of the WCU University Participant Program. Ellie loves dogs and would like to work with them, so spending a few hours with us each week learning about both grooming and daycare is an ideal opportunity for her. She's already helping Kary with basic tasks here, and as she settles in and become more comfortable, she will be helping with bathing and other hands on tasks to help her to develop the skills she'll need to work with dogs in the future.

With the impending storm about to hit our area on Friday, and excessive cold in many other areas, it's a good time to drop a few cold weather hints and tips.

But it's not just about dogs - don't forget to take extra care of your outdoor and wild animals. Extra bedding, extra food, and ways to keep water defrosted for outdoor animals (old crockpots are just a few dollars in the thrift store and are perfect for keeping water ice-free for smaller animals and birds - make sure they're safely connected and in an area protected from the elements, though!). Seed and food for wild birds and creatures who struggle to access anything nutritious when the ground is frozen or snow covered. Even rolled oats, a drained can of sweetcorn or broken up bread is better than nothing.

This is August. Today was August's first bath and nail trim. She is just a few months old. She was exceptionally well behaved and this just shows how important it is to get your dog used to regular grooming from a young age. She behaved like an old pro with not a spot of fear and is already booked back in for 8 weeks' time to keep up the good habit and stay in tip top shape.

She also rewarded us with a fashion show. Best Tuesday ever! 🩷💜🐶🩷💜🐶

Found chihuahua on Country Club Drive near The Prospects in Cullowhee. Found approx 7.30am on Fri 12/20. Middle of the road. Nearly hit twice. Now at the daycare safe, fed and watered at Best Day Ever, 22 Steeple Road. Male, fixed, older, no collar. Reasonable condition but had been outside some time and was very cold. Today is the last day of our Christmas donation drive. Please bring your items to the daycare at 22 Steeple Road before 5pm today, and send any monetary donations via Venmo to Sarah-Little-100. Tomorrow morning I will take all monetary donations to spend in Walmart, and then will take everything donated to the Little Pantry and Support Stop downtown near Bridge Park.

This has been a tough year for many so thank you for the donations we have already received, and to those of you who plan on donating today. Every little helps. It truly does. It's amazing what you can buy for $5 when you're a smart shopper on a mission 😉

In previous years we have offered Christmas decorations only to our daycare clients. But the latter part of this year has been a tough one for all of us, so in a very small attempt to spread a little holiday cheer, we got extra decorations.

So even if you're not one of our daycare or grooming customers, please swing by the daycare at 22 Steeple Road and help yourself to a decoration from the basket in reception. We have plenty, so please don't be shy, and they're even unfinished wood so you can personalize them or have the kids decorate them. It's not much. But it might make you smile. And I think we all need that 💚🎄♥️🐶💚🎄♥️🐶

We have begun our third annual Christmas drive. This is NOT in support of the Helene efforts, but is specifically for the Sylva Support Stop and Little Pantry downtown and therefore targeted at this very local area. We will take in donations (physical items and monetary contributions) at the daycare until Friday December 13. On Saturday December 14 I will add our own donation, load up the car, go to Walmart and spend the monetary donations (typically on toys, non-perishable holiday related food, and toiletries), and then deliver everything to the two locations.

If you would like to donate, we would welcome:
- non perishable unopened food and drinks
- toiletries
- new and used (good condition) adult and child clothing, bedding, blankets
- pet related items including food, bedding, toys, and clothing
- new and used (good condition) toys and games
- new and used (good condition) household and kitchen items.

Monetary donations can be made in cash or to me via Venmo (-Little-100) and I will gladly share the receipt for purchases made if needed. Many of the items we will accept for donation (predominantly used ones) will NOT be accepted for hurricane relief, so it's a great way to donate items that might not be accepted elsewhere, and just by dropping them off here and letting us do the work!

I realize that this is a very difficult year for many of us and we are being pulled in many different directions for donations. Absolutely anything you are willing to contribute will be enormously appreciated both by us and the local community. Thank you. For whatever you can give. ❤️🎅💚🎄❤️🎅💚🎄

There's lots of good stuff that your doggos can eat today, but there's also plenty that we love that they can't have (plain mashed potatoes are fine, but not when they're laden with butter and cream). Here's a basic reminder (and don't forget that xylitol is also referred to as birch sugar).

Rayna and Rufus are new besties and the benefits to both of them are tremendous. Small dogs learn to not be afraid, and large dogs learn to respect and adjust their play for smaller dogs. Everybody wins, including the owners ❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️🐶
