"But my dog is friendly" you might say. "She's gentle!" you call after them. "She just wants to play!" you say in defense.

Of course! But let's consider the other side of the coin. The other dog your dog is greeting may be:

- Fearful of other dogs
- Anxious of greeting unfamiliar dogs
- Needing space to feel safe
- Not wanting to be bothered
- Friends with only a few dogs
- Painful
- Infectious (kennel cough IS going around right now, by the way!)
- Recovering from an injury
- Learning, and NOT looking for distractions
- Not in the mood
- Doing something else that they are more interested in

I am sure there are plenty of other reasons I have missed. It's really quite simple -- Ignore or ask! It's not hard!

If it's a "no", clip on a lead or ask your dog to stick with you/"leave-it" or whatever specific cues you've successfully taught your dog prior to having them off leash in public.

EVERYONE deserves to be able to walk in peace. Even those who are unsociable, like me!

Our Animal Control and Compliance officers are responding to numerous complaints of dogs locked in hot vehicles. In 90 degree heat, your pet can die of heatstroke within 15 minutes, even parked in the shade with windows cracked. For example, on an 84 degree day, the temperature inside your car can reach 98 degrees...and that's with the windows cracked four inches! And it only gets worse as the outside temperature rises. Please take good care of your pets as the weather heats up this weekend.

While we have thoroughly enjoyed caring for our boarders over the years, the utilization of this space has, regrettably, led to the decision to discontinue our cat boarding services. And, with COV1D restrictions already prohibiting boarding services for the foreseeable future, it makes sense to implement this plan as of now.

Fortunately, we live in an area that is ripe with passionate pet care providers. Below are links to some local boarding providers, including a few who will come to the house, which is a great option for kitties who prefer the comforts of their own home while their owners are away. We want to thank each and every one of the boarders we have come to know and love over the years. You have all been purr-fectly delightful!
