Owner Tricia LiAna is a positive reinforcement dog trainer, and is an ATT judge and AKC evaluator She is now a recognized AKC evaluator.

Owner Tricia LiAna’s love for dogs and training started at a young age. She grew up in a family that owned and ran a professional kennel training hunting and sporting dogs. She had also been working with rescue dogs before coming to Elite K9. Her passion for rescues led her to adopt an abandoned Catahoula Whippet mix who is DeafBlind. Her connection to the DeafBlind community, and fluency in ASL

made her a good fit to provide clear and constant communication with this special pup. With the guidance of Elite K9, she trained her Norsayan Mastiff as a mobility and medical alert SD, through the Canine Kinship program. Hanna Myers, then mentored her to become a partner trainer under her well known and respected company, Elite K9. Tricia trains in positive reinforcement methods and strives to learn the least abrasive and science based ways to engage with dogs.

Talk about grooming desensitized pups lol. Little guy was a trooper for a treatment bath, blow out, and through combing 💜 completely fell asleep during us blow out

🎉 Congratulations to this wonderful team 💜
Some of you might remember this little potato a.k.a. Murphy was one of my jumpstart puppies a few years ago. He has now completed not only my training program, to be a fully trained service dog for his handler Kit. He has also traveled to Canada to be internationally certified, so that he could go on to work in Ireland for the next year and a half , and I am sad to say he’s no longer in the country at this time but he is off doing his job. So proud of this team and all their hard work !

This post is a tad bit late but I wanted to share one of our recent graduates Indi the hearing alert Fully Trained Service dog !!!! And her handler
I am so proud of this team and all the hard work they have put in 💜 Indi is a giant schnauzer which is not a common SD breed and created a bit of an up hill challenge for first time handler Shannon. I was honest and transparent that this choice was not stacking the odds in their favor and not my typical recommendation for a SD prospect but Shannon and Indi over came the odds. Training took a bit longer to get the results they needed but they stayed determined and consistent even when progress was slow. Now three years old and on the job officially. Can’t wait to hear more about their adventures together.

It is my pleasure to introduce the newest member of the Little Miss K9 team !

Lillie and her dog Medi originally began as clients. Some of you may remember Medi as a jump start pup years ago.

Lillie is a native Tisimashian who grew up in Alaska. She has had a special interest in animals and our relationship with them forever. After working with Medi as a training client she has been dedicated to further her education into becoming a well rounded dog trainer. So she will be participating in a 12 week apprenticeship to continue that journey. You can expect to see her and even medi at some of your training sessions moving forward. As you can see from the pictures Lillie also enjoys finding new fun enrichment activities for Medi and taking silly pictures of his long nose.

Say hello to Sota he is our boarding buddy for the weekend hanging out at the house with us.

This is just a little reminder that when your dogs stay with us, they are treated like family. Sota has had a walk and mental enrichment games. Now he’s hanging out with me on the couch. He’s had playtime in the yard with the girls through out the day and tonight he’ll get brushed out to make sure that that fluffy coat of his is well maintained.

Not to mention that his owners have gotten updates with pictures and videos so they know how he’s doing and what he’s up to throughout the day.

Cuddling with Fable as the grief comes in waves … I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has reached out during this difficult time. I have received beautiful flowers thoughtful memorial items, comforting self care products, homemade cookies, and even been door dashed entire meals. Not to mention Karmas aunties helping with mental enrichment prep, topple meal prep, walks, and back yard clean up for Fable and Calliope as I have fallen apart for days on end. 💔❤️‍🩹

I don’t know how to say this … I barely know how to function today.

Last night Karmas heart gave out … she had a seizure and fell. I rushed to her side and held her as she passed away. 💔

My husband has me for the next two days. Can’t think passed that about anything right now. Usually I’m sending out courtesy reminders for this week schedule so just wanted to let you know why I wouldn’t be replying for a little while

Service dog training is a full time job for mysef as the trainer as well as for the handler. Guiding my clients through this process is challenging but some of the most fulfilling work I get to do.

This girl is my world, so it breaks my heart to make this update.

We did not get good news from cardiology today … The short version of the story is that her cardiologist told me that it’s no longer a question of “if” she will die from heart failure it’s a question of “when”

We made her end of life plan today and I have the warning symptoms of early heart failure to be monitoring for so that I can get her comfort care when it happens.

She is on three medications in the meantime to try and keep her heart as strong and healthy in the meantime. But she has DCM which means her heart is struggling to pump blood to her body and therefor the muscle is working overtime and growing larger than normal. With DCM comes other complications. So far she has a heart murmur and Ventricular Arrhythmia.
Ironically my cardiac alert SD is now retired due to cardiac issues…. She takes too much after her momma.

You would think decades of being a heart patient would have prepared me better for this but it’s different when it’s someone you love and you feel completely helpless… 🥺😭
