Progress update on Malrey !
She joined us a little over a year ago, as a dog reactive adolesent sheperd who lacked boundaries and manners on leash and around the house.
Now she is has a little brother she plays with, keeps her mouth off her humans, doesnt jump on guests, and has learned to walk without pulling on her leash!
So proud of her progress! And so glad her owners were dedicated to training and confidence boosting. Now we all can enjoy the sweet hearrt she truely is

Holiday traffics made the drive even longer than usual so we stopped at a midway point Sniffspot to allow the girls to stretch their legs, relive themselves, and this meant they were not cooped up and were set up for success to be on their best behavior when we arrived at grandmas.
With 20 (lots of kids) in and out of the house giving the girls their beds from home helps them know where they can be out of the way and settle.
Fable is new to traveling and as a hearing breed she wants to pace around when anyone moves, so we tether her in more exciting times to help her make good choices.
We also get up in the morning and go out for sniff walks and zoomies before family come over so I know all their needs are met.
Giving them high value chews while I want them settled and calm also helps keep them busy.

Let’s talk grooming !
For adult dogs bathing is usually recommended every 4 to 6 weeks. I personally do mine once a month but when I have a new puppy, I practice that bath more like once a week to get them used to and comfortable with the grooming process.
I use both a gentle shampoo and conditioner to avoid any concerns of drying out their skin.
For adult dogs I also recommend starting with their face and their feet because those are the dirtiest areas and it allows the shampoo to work there the longest before being rinsed off however, with puppies I want to start out with the most comfortable areas like their back, and do their feet and their face last when they have built some confidence.
In regards to building confidence, I also recommend feeding and doing other training and socialization games in the tub prior to puppies baths and in between baths to help make that area more positively associated for them.
You may also notice in the drying portion I’m using a forced air dryer to make sure that we dry all the way down to the skin and don’t leave any moisture that creates yeast or other skin problems but for a puppy I start on the lowest setting, without a nozzle on the end, to make the air be as gentle and soft as possible, to build her confidence with the noise and feel of the forced air dryer.

If you haven’t heard, sniff spots are a fantastic place to exercise your dogs, work on training commands, and generally just have some off leash fun and a safe way!
Semi private reservations mean that the dogs that you will encounter at a sniff spot or only the dogs that you have invited and reserved for that time so it’s like a private dog park where you don’t have to worry about any of the risks of a usual public dog park.
However, because other dogs do use the area, I don’t recommend it for any dogs who are not fully vaccinated.
