Black Cats & Old Dogs Animal Rescue was started by Arianne Tiner (Burley) in January of 2015 after she noticed that an overwhelming amount of animals were being left behind at shelters due to their color, age, and/or breed. Arianne set out on a mission to rescue these cats and dogs, believing that no animal deserves to be slated for euthanasia due to any of these uncontrollable things. Black Cats

& Old Dogs Animal Rescue commits to taking animals from kill shelters that are refused by other rescues. We take in a great number of heartworm positive dogs that are avoided because of the cost and length of treatment. BCOD also takes in senior dogs and pit mixes, both which are hard to find homes for, but deserve to live. Rebel is officially available for adoption! NOTE: Please read Rebel's description before submitting an adoption application. Rebel is a special needs pup and he needs someone with the time and dedication to properly care for him. We will be very picky when selecting his forever family.

Rebel is a super cute young adult, who absolutely loves people. He is great with kids and adults alike. Rebel is wonderful with other dogs, but he is a bit fearless, which must beanaged by his human companion. Rebel has some significant genetic issues and he needs a family who does not mind taking the extra steps necessary to take proper care of him.

Rebel has 3 different issues with his spine, as well as an abnormal urethra. Rebel has been to 2 different specialists and has many tests done, including an MRI. His doctors advised us to not do anything at this time, as spinal surgeries can make things worse. Because Rebel is not in pain and doesn't have any quality of life issues, his vetrinarians said we should find him his forever home. None of these issues currently prevent him from living his best life, but they do make it so that he doesn't have control of his bowels, which means he will never be fully house broken. With dedication, accidents can be kept to a minimum. We keep a belly band on Rebel when he is indoors, to prevent urine from dripping. Rebel may need spine surgery in the distant future, but that is an unknown at this time.

Rebel loves to run and play fetch. He listens well and gets along with all animals he has encountered (dogs, cats, chickens, and goats). We would love for Rebel to find a home with someone who has experience with medically needs dogs and/or Frenchies. Please email or DM us for more information.

We took Rebel to see the neurologists at UF Small Animal Hospital on Monday so that they could review his MRI and give him an examination from a neurological standpoint. Rebel has several different genetic issues, some of which can be fixed, and some of which cannot be fixed. At this time, they have recommended that we hold off on doing anything to Rebel's spine, since doing anything could make matters worse. Rebel can get around fine right now, and it is not worth the risk. The vets at UF advised us to get more testing done to try to resolve his digestive problems, as well as get him neutered. They okayed him being adopted out afterward. Rebel is currently being boarded at our primary veterinarian, while he gets some more testing done. Please donate via paypal.me/bcod if you can help with Rebel's ongoing care.

Rebel's vetrinary notes & bills will be posted in the comments.

This sweet boy needs a home to call his own. A good samaritan has been taking care of him for about a year, but he constantly escapes her yard and travels the busiest road in a small town. He is super friendly and wonderful with other dogs. If you can foster or adopt, please send us a message!

We are in need of funds to get Rebel to the Neurosurgeon at UF. Rebel's appointment is on 10/14 and his office visit alone is $285. We are pretty broke right now and need all the help we can get to help Rebel. Please donate via PayPal to paypal.me/bcod

After this visit, we should have an answer to whether or not Rebel's 3 different spinal issues can/should be repaired.

Thank you all for your continued support

Rebel got his much needed MRI 2 weeks ago. He unfortunately has 3 seperate spinal issues, on top of his urethra malformation. Dr. Jehn said he has never seen all 3 issues in one dog before. Rebel also had some parasites, which have been treated. Dr. Jehn has referred him to the neurosurgeon at UF. We have an appointment for him there on October 14. It is very uncertain whether or not these issues can be fixed, and of they can be fixed, there is no guarantee that they will resolve Rebel's bowel control issues.

Right now, Rebel gets around just fine. He shows no pain, plays with other dogs, cats, and kids. Rebel will need a very special home, where someone doesn't mind him being a bit messy at times. He is on special food, which seems to help a great deal with some of his bowel issues.

Right now, we have no idea what further costs Rebel's treatment(s) will cost, and we are once again asking for you help for this little guy. The examination at UF is $285, and if they warrant surgery, it will likely be thousands of dollars. Currently, Rebel's care has been around $3,000 so far. We do not receive government funding, and we need your help so that we can continue to seek out the best care for Rebel.

Please donate if you are able. Paypal.me/bcod

Thank you all so very much for your support.

We are struggling to raise the needed funds for Rebel's MRI. Can you spare $5 to help this cutie out? Rebel's only hope at a normal life, is to get an MRI and determine whether or not his spinal condition can be fixed. If it can be fixed, he will need to undergo major surgery. Please share and help us help Rebel.
